Giovanni Bellini painted the Pesaro altarpiece in 1475. It stands complete except for the cimasa (top section - now in the Piero della Francesca show in Forli) in the Museo Civico in Pesaro. And WHAT A TREAT it is! All the original predella panels (lives of the saints below the main subject) are intact and all the figures are GORGEOUS!... More

Stunning work by Giovanni Bellini. The work is housed in the Civic Museum and is a masterpiece. 15th Century.

Just a competently run museum in yet another small italian town with a long past. Two exhibitions when we were there: a mixture of things the city fathers have gathered over the centuries and the works if an early 20th century photographer.

You wouldn't think that in such a small city like Pesaro, you will find such a nice museum. Beside the Bellini altar, which is amazing, there are very nice paitings, and of course ceramics, as Pesaro is wll-known ceramic city.

The main attraction of the museum is a stunning complete Bellini altarpiece, probably one of the best in the world. We were pushed for time and dashed in as we'd heard about the Bellini - helpfully it's in the first room and it is mind blowing. Worth the price of admission alone. No idea what's in the rest of the... More

There isn't that much that is cultural in Pesaro, but the Museo Civico is an excellent museum that collects some of the best art work in the region. The displays are extremely sensitively arranged, with all the latest bells and whistles that museums typically offer. I was surprised on how uptodate the presentations were. The star of the show is... More
