They wanted to build a parkingplace, but -of course- they found a huge and impressive graveyard from aorund 200 a.c.. It grips Your heart to see the lovely graves made by people in mourning to honour their loved ones.

I really enjoyed this tour. We started very late after waiting 25 minutes for a couple who showed up late, and the guide talked nonstop on the walk to the entrance, but once we got there it was very impressive and very interesting. It was...More

When we booked this we hadn't realised we would be going underground. The archaeological site is located underneath the car parks. This site is not ventilated and we visited during the August heatwave - 90% humidity and very very hot. Despite the discomfort it was...More

We had to book the visit to this museum, since we were visiting the Vatican city we thought of doing this, having heard so much about it and loved it inside.

Must book well in advance on the Vatican website as there are very limited positions in tours throughout the day. Tour takes you outside the Vatican Museum to go underground to view pagan and early Christian tombs. Preservation and archaeological work is still ongoing and...More

We found this through the vatican website. We didn't realize there were two necropolis tours, so we thought we were going to the one with St. Peter's bones, and we weren't the only ones on our your to think that. But regardless of that we...More
