My son and I took this tour along with a group of young women. Our guide, Yael, was able to share both historical perspectives on Jewry in Rome and personal stories about the Jewish community as it stands now. She made an extra effort to include my son, who is 10. The three hours flew by and I consider this... More

This tour was a highlight of our trip to Rome. Our guide, Sara was part stand up comic, and part historical guide. Don't miss.

My son and I took a private tour of the Vatican; we viewed all the sights but with a Jewish orientation. Our guide, Marco, was fantastic. Incredibly knowlegable and gave us so much understanding and insight. An incredible 3 hour tour.

The tour of the Jewish Ghetto was my favorite tour of Rome ever. Our tour guide Sarah grew up in the ghetto and naturally was not only knowledgable, but shared her family stories, including how her family escaped deportation during WWII. My two friends who joined me, are not Jewish, and enjoyed the tour as much as me, as well... More

My tour guide's whole family are Roman Jews, the entire tour was personal, intimate, and lovely. It really felt like our guide was sharing a part of her life with us. Worth every penny.

What a great tour! Our family had ages from 16 to 80, and Micaela was able to make it interesting for all. We very much enjoyed the synagogue tour and the museum. It was something we will never forget.

The tour of the Jewish ghetto was one of the highlights of our trip. While sobering, it gave us tremendous insight into the ghetto its history and characters.

Wonderful tour by Micol who was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic. As a member of the Rome Jewish community, she knew not only about the colorful history but also about the current situation. Highly recommended.

Jewish Ghetto tour was really spectacular. Very informative. The tour is interactive. Micaela our tour guide was happy to answer all questions. Her knowledge of the subject matter was very broad and deep. Definitely a must do when visiting Rome.

BEST TOURS EVER !!! We did two tours - one of the Jewish Ghetto and Museum and one of the Vatican/Sistine Chapel/St.Peters Basilica and each was absolutely spectacular. Our tour guides - both of whose families have been in Rome since the inquisition had incredible personal histories to share in addition to being beyond knowledgeable and appealed to every age... Staying in Ghetto

Neighbourhood Profile
The mini-neigbourhood Ghetto holds tight to its reputation as a stand-alone area thanks to its nearly 300-year history as the home to Rome’s Jewish community. Times changed in the 20th century, but the tiny area still retains its mix of tradition, community, and history. Ancient and medieval architectural design frames apartments, bakeries, shops, and restaurants. Friends and families are the pulse of the neighbourhood, keeping company on the Via del Portico d’Ottavia. The Ghetto observes the traditional Jewish Shabbat: businesses close from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown.
