About
The puppet theatre San Carlino in Rome is one of the most important children theatres of Italy. Shows are due from mid of September to mid of June every Saturday and Sunday and any public holiday. During week, for groups dedicated shows are available. All theatre plays are realized by our own puppet company. Most of the plays offer a mix of actors, puppets and most often live music. Book or buy tickets directly from our website.

one of the best places if you're in Rome with kids

A tiny wooden theater in the heart of gorgeous Villa Borghese, totally dedicated to the smaller ones. All the shows are for children and the theatre's staff and company is super friendly and funny. They propose shows that give a new, funnier version of classic tales, often wit a mix of puppets and actors. Also magicians, small circuses... they change almost every week.

Charming show with live actors and music to accompany the puppets

Our 20 month old daughter loved the guitar player who strummed tunes and sang musical interludes during the puppet show. The staging made the most of the small theatre space. Actors were great, including the opening remarks by the host followed by the introduction of the play by "Pulcinella". There are two rows of benches in the front for children. Plastic lawn chairs for adults in three rows behind the benches. Smaller children need to be in a parent's lap and held high enough to see all the activity. It is all in Italian language. Not necessarily recommended if you don't speak the language -- you will miss out on all the witticisms and jokes in the production.
