The Ghetto area of Rome worth seeing!

Not a long walk but very interesting. Small streets filled with interesting sights. Pallazzo Mattei gorgeous Supposedly good "sweets" to eat on the area!

We were unsure of what to expect but when our guide sat down with us in a local cafe and talked us through the history of the Jewish ghetto in Rome, we knew that we were in for a treat. The tour covered many amazing ruins with the history attached and some ancient areas of Rome that are not well... More

We booked our tour through Expedia. This was one of the best tours we did during our stay in Rome. The guide was excellent! Wish we had had MORE time! Caution! You cover a lot of ground....bring good shoes and be prepared to walk!

It has been interesting and important to let my daughter know about the facts that involved Jewish during the second world war. Walking along the streets made us realize what happened in that period. It has been very interesting also visiting the Roman ruins and having a look at this corner of Rome. I suggest travellers to go there!

Much more than we bargained for here; not only history of Roman ghetto but also ruins from Octavia and Marcellus Theater, (from which the Colosseum structure was built 4 years later) also how the ghetto was reinstated by Mussolini. We saw actual buildings still functional from Medieval Ghetto and where the Corner of the Five Schools was. We learned not... More

My family and I went to Rome earlier this past summer. We read about doing a walking tour of the city but didn't know how to go about this on our own. We purchased the Rick Steves tour guide book and he recommended hiring a private tour guide. We could not have agreed with this suggestion more. Rick Steves suggested... More
