This was our most favorite food shopping place. Fresh local products and they'll vacuum pack it so you can bring stuff back home. Not many tourists here which is sort of surprising and reasonable prices. It's a hidden gem ironically in the most touristy area of Rome.

Great visit to this authentic farmer's market which is a regular fixture for the locals. Buzzing atmosphere and high quality, reasonably priced produce. A real cultural experience for any visitor wanting to experience the real Italy. Stall holders are so friendly and enthusiastic and in a grateful location overlooking the Circo Massimo.

There's a great neighborhood atmosphere here with purveyors from all over Lazio. Everything sold here is from Lazio. Super wine and cheeses. Wide variety of fruit and veg. We make a lunch out of visits; there's alway nice warm home cooked food on offer. And now an excellent truck selling amazing fresh juices. Get the "succo di mapo" or ginger... More

Excellent local meats, cheese, oils, nuts and vegetables. Not many markets open on Sunday and I wish this one was open all week. Grab a cab, get some stuff for lunch and go to the Forum for a picnic.

This is a smalls weekend market that has farmers and producers from the area. I really enjoyed trying all of the cheeses and olive oils. Everything in this market is excellent quality. You can pick up a few things from the delis they have at the market and the cheese vendors and you have yourself a wonderful lunch. It will... More

Love this sensational market!!! There I get the best honey from lazio. Great organic vegetables and fruit. Bread and wheat flower. Perfect also for lunch. I also buy really good wines from different cities. Great program at weekends!

We leave tomorrow and we stumbled across the market today. Artisan cheese, breads, meat, sauces, vegetables, cooked meat filled rolls, oil and wine. Great fun wandering around because samples are offered but unfortunately we only needed enough for dinner. Make an effort to hunt this market out on a Saturday or Sunday morning.

Small food market, we were visiting it and got hungry so we bought some fresh vegetables, bread and great cheese and went to the back to sit on some tables and eat our lovely lunch there.

Staying in Aventine

Neighbourhood Profile
Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighbourhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
