Context provides an in-depth alternative to traditional tours. Context's Rome walking seminars are an alternative to typical guided tours. With over 50 different walks led by Ph.D. or MA-level scholars, and with the smallest group size available—only six people. Context is much more than a walking tour of Rome.

We were a study abroad group from America. I've been on many tours with students over the years, and this was the most engaging. The docents really knew their subject matter and took extra care to tailor the tour to our academic needs. I recommend for any traveler who wants a thoughtful and intellectual experience. I'm planning some personal travel... More

We were traveling independently but still wanted the expertise of a professional tour guide for the "special" places. We used Context Tours in Rome and Florence and were so pleased with the service. We felt like we were getting the "inside" stories on all the places we hired them for.

Very interesting and educational tour with behind-the-scenes and cut the line access. I've been on six Context Rome Tours... Intro to Rome, Ancient Forum/Palatine Hill and Colosseum, and the Arte Vatican and Sistine Chapel over 3 different trips to Rome. Each one has been excellent... very small so you get to know the tour guide and they adjust the tour... More

A remarkable experience that surpassed my expectations. If you have a passion for art and the renaissance doing this tour is a must. Our guide (our group was just 5) was Cecelia. Her knowledge is clearly huge and her passion is infectious. It was a very personal experience. The booking online not a simple as it might be but I... More

Very convenient and very informative. Our tour leader gave just the right amount of info, i.e. not too much and not too little. She is an art history professor and one of the authors of the latest tour books about Rome. Price competitive with other companies.

Alessandra clear and wonderful explanations of the artworks, the history and the political scene during the time were wonderful -- My... More

Huge thanks to Dimos whose knowledge and passion for Ancient Rome absolutely made our trip. It was such a treat to visit the Colleseum, Pallantine Hill and the Roman Forum with someone who not only knew the history but could also talk knowledgeably about the current hypothesis and insights gained from the archeological digs ongoing having been part of them.... It is impossible to overpraise my small group's experience with Context. We toured the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica with the witty, deeply informed Livia, and her expertise opened these rich sites to us in a way we could never have managed on our own. Livia curated these rich sites for us, helping us to note points we surely... More

We did three Rome tours with Context, all private family tours: Underground Rome (with Linda Nolan), Ancient Rome Discovery (with Valeria Pugiotto), and Vatican (with Agnes Crawford). There where four people in our group, two adults, and two children (ages 10 and 12) and each tour was informative and interesting for everyone in our group. The guides where interactive, entertaining,... More

Liz Brewster was a wonder docent. Informed, passionate and pleasant. Encouraged us to ask questions and she always seemed to have the answers. Just a wonderful, special experience. Worth every penny.
