A local friend told us this is just a tourist show these days with very few locals shopping there. It's fun to walk around but I wouldn't buy anything there.

We stopped for a coffee at the Mercato - delicious mocha espresso and chocolate croissants. Comfortable cushioned high top tables with a view of the market. A nice place for a break in Rome center.
