Real Rome Tours is a small team of local guides, licensed and experienced in giving guided tours of Rome and the Vatican in English.

Although all of our guides are licensed tour guides in Rome and the Vatican, they each have our own areas of expertise. We have archaeologists, art historians, and university lecturers among our ranks, and as our reputation has grown we continue to invite similarly-qualified guides to join us.

Our philosophy is simple: We believe that tours should be fun as well as informative. We also believe that our customers are best served in small groups. For this purpose, we strictly limit our semi-private tours to only 13 people.

Our fees are honest and reflect the small sizes of our groups. We include ticket prices in our tour fees where tickets are applicable, and we always skip the lines. Headsets are provided so you can walk around and still hear your live guide.

Our customer base and reputation have been growing steadily over the past few years, and we promise to continue to strive to deliver the perfect Rome experience for all our future guests. We hope to see you on one of our tours in 2016!

We did the Rome in day trip with Nick as our guide. The day was really informative and definitely value for money rather than walking around aimlessly from site to site but also for the time value of skipping the queues. Definitely recommend if you are on a tight timeframe as you cover so much ground, because of this comfortable... More

actual visit March 2014 (just getting around to posting the review ;) .... I have lived in Europe on and off for over 10 years; 4 of those years were spent living in Italy. Rome is a favored destination and during these visits I have also experienced a variety of tours. On this return visit, I brought my mother and... More

This was a fantastic 3 1/2 hour tour. Our tour guide Ivana was amazing. She had so much information to share, including visual aids that really made the tour. Her knowledge of all of the areas that we toured was incredible. Her English was fantastic which was wonderful as I can only speak limited Italian. Getting to see under the... More

Our tour group only consisted of a friend and me, as another couple, so only 4 of us! We thoroughly enjoyed the entire tour, our tour guide was very informational and friendly, also had a book with him which was a very good idea and he managed to show us a lot of images regarding the Colosseum from his book... My husband and I visited Rome for a long weekend and decided that we'd do a one day tour of Rome so we could also take time out to enjoy the wonderful squares cafes and restaurants. I came across Real Rome Tours on tripadvisor and decided to book it based on the positive reviews, the itinerary and the price (139... More

We had a half-day tour that was worth every penny. Our guide (Andrea? Apologies if that is incorrect spelling!) was extremely articulate and knowledgeable about the history of the Vatican's many fabulous works of art. I would strongly recommend this tour to any visitor as you will get so much more out of a trip to the Vatican with an... More

I took the tour in late June and my tour guide was very knowledgeable. The tour group was about 15-20 of us. We were able to go underground and have a close up view of went went on. Of course, you are very limited to the walkways, but it was still a great experience. Really my favorite thing in Rome.

We visited Rome during the bank holiday weekend and decided on the underground tour of the Colosseum to avoid the massive queues as well as feed our interest in such a magnificent monument. Our tour guide was extremely informative and friendly and made the 3 & half hour tour very enjoyable indeed. Thankfully the sun was shining but it wasn't... More

Staying in Prati

Neighbourhood Profile
Prati
Just steps away from the chaos of the centre, Prati is the closest Rome gets to calm. Meticulously planned in a neat grid, quite unlike neighbouring Borgo, Prati is a local favourite for its aesthetic organisation and wide streets lined with a range of boutiques for every shopping fantasy. Nonnis pushing baby carriages and gossiping teens own every inch of the sidewalk, but that’s only during business hours. Once the sun sets, quirky sidestreet bars celebrate aperitivo hour, those evening cocktails that help wash away the tensions of Roman life.
