Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

The step climb was definitely worth it!
We has low expectations of what this castle would offer but it did not disappoint
This gave us the best view of Naples.
A must do!!

The place to go for views of Naples. The castle itself is imposing due to the size of it. Unfortunately you can’t look around the castle more. At the top though you get 360 panoramic views of Naples which were fantastic. Vomero itself was also lovely to visit and can be reached easily by the Metro (recommend getting off at each of the flagged artistic stops on the network). Beware the toilets are right at the top of the castle after approx a 15 minute walk.

Great location viewing 360 of Napoli
Walking distance from Vomero shopping district. You get the chance to enter most of the castle chambers and the court yard which is interesting and makes you imagine how the troops were defending the castle from ships coming from the sea.

Nice views but there were no guides or tourist information at the top. There was a sign indicating a self guided tour but there were few markings.

The views are the best in Naples. Stunning for the €2.50 ticket fee. The castle itself was very interesting and so well kept.

This is a lovely place! Well worth a visit. I took the metro to Vivatelli from Garabaldi and it was an easy walk up from there. The castle is impressive and the views incredible.

I used my Artecard to get a reduction to this site.
One of the highlights for me was the journey to the top of Vomero Hill. There are various ways to get there, I took the Montesanto Funicular from Montesanto Funicular Station to Morghen Station.... my first funicular! There wasn't much of a view but you get to see Naples disappear as you enter the tunnel. The cost of the ticket is included if you have the Artecard.
It was quite a steep climb to the top but well worth it for the views across Naples to Vesuvius.
The medieval castle itself is very imposing but there isn't much to see in the way of fixtures and fittings!
There are various ways to get back down the Hill including the Metro, 2 other funiculars or take the Belvedere san Martino walk down the hill like I did. It took me about 20 minutes all downhill on paved stairs/walkways sometimes right past peoples houses. Make sure you wear sensible shoes if you take the walk!

Not bad entry fee and getting there on the funicular was an experience.
The views were amazing and we went on the last day so it was a perfect way to relax before tackling the airport.
Glad I went
