A beautiful place. So dynamic against the sunset. The lights at night are so romantic! The wind was blowing so gustily, it was hard to walk, but so worth the effort.

It's a nice little walk along the sea to castle dell'Ovo from the Centro Storico that takes you past a pretty area with restaurants and boats. It's FREE ENTRY which is worth noting. Although the building is a bit blocky and lacking in much English...More

Ok, you get nice views over the bay but that's it. You have no access into the castle itself so it's effectively nothing more than a scenic lookout point. If that's all you're looking for then it's great. If you expect to see a castle...More

Castle is nice. It's actually got a great viewing spot especially to see the sun set. It's nothing out of the ordinary though.

This castle will bring out the inner photographer in anyone. It's beautiful the way light plays on it in the evenings.

Splendid fortress complex on the sea with free access. You cannot enter inside but walk around the fortification and enjoy the view on the sea, the port, Mergellina and the Vesuv.

Another must-see spot in Naples, not only because of this beautiful historic building, but also because of stunning views of the Bay and great restaurants. We had an amazing dinner at La Scialuppa just behind the castle ...

After walking along the "Lungomare" you find the "Castel dell'Ovo". A good place full of restaurant for a snack, and apetiser or a meal. We drank a couple of "spritz" sitting on a terrace and had a wonderful time just waching people in and out...More

It is free to enter the castle. It is empty but the views of Napoli Bay and Mt. Vesuvius are fantastic. It's worth the visit.

A must visit if you are in or around the area. Free entry and some amazing photos to be had. The castle itself is in a great state and the views from it are breath taking. Plenty of restaurants surrounding the castle.

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
I see the swimmers and sunbathers in the tethered boats by the castle. They appear to be rented as they are pulled to the tether by a small motor boat. Three questions if anyone might know is appreciate your answer! 1. From where are the boats rented ? It may be from left of entry bridge as you face the castle as I can't see that side. 2. Does anyone know how much they are to rent for a certain number of hours or for the day? 3. How do the swimmers I see on the right side of the castel get into the water without the boat - is there a path or do they climb down the rocks? My mother has limited mobility but swims like a fish. She could not cross the rocks to get down- or up! but she could easily handle the water entry & exit from the beach. Thanks!
