Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

all the castles in naples are amazing, some of them have stupid and confusing entry rules but that is italy right, make it hard for the tourists who love your country

Walking is the best way to reach it, although there are private parking garages nearby. Beautiful view, a bit of history, and zero cost to visit. Fully recommended.

Absolutely gorgeous! We were not able to go inside, as it was closed, however we walked around admiring the immense structure. There is a bridge that connects land with island and around the castle there are several sea food restaurants.
We were lucky to be there at the sunset time of the day and the view was spectacular. It is possible to see the castle from afar as its size stand from the ocean landscape.
Make sure you also promenade around the beach shore as it has very cute hotels and cafes.
The castle area is one of the cleanest area in Naples due the location of several international hotels.

You can see Vesuvius and the lovely coast of Naples. Excellent for photos. To be honest most castels were pretty boring. They are mostly empty inside so its just a walk around too see different views. A good way to spent an hour if you want to take pictures.

They say about fiction writing: show don't tell. That is also true for this historical site. There is lots of interesting and impressive history worth preserving and presenting to visitors, both for the purposes of education, pride, and Italian national community.
There are several wonderful and informative and not lengthy written placards (in both Italian and English) with maps throughout that are used to help visitors understand the layout and history; unfortunately, there is very little to see within the complex of what is described on these placards, and many parts of the castel are closed off.
Certainly worth a visit for views of Naples and the Gulf of Naples, but if you want more from your experience, please stop and read the information provided; otherwise, the visit may be a big disappointment.

Lovely castle, well maintained. Beautiful views from the outside.
There was a tour which meant we could have gone underground too however it was in Italian so we couldn’t do it (else are English)
The castle was free to look around and worth spending an hour looking about.
Great view of Mount Vesuvius too

The castle (castel in Italian) is super ancient and is more like the fortress rather than castle. You will just go up and stroll outside looking over the walls to admire beautiful views of Mount Vesuvius, the gulf of Naples and city line. Honestly, there is not much to do and see there other than that, BUT it’s free and makes a lovely stop after a walk on promenade of Naples. We visited it like five years ago and it was super crowded, but this month we came back to bring my aunt who was visiting us and thanks to the required reservation needed online, there were only a few people and the visit was better this way. It felt like a relaxing time and we took some nice photos there. Highly recommend as a free cultural thing but don’t build high expectations.

Well worth a visit. You have to book a time slot on the website but this is easy. Surprisingly the entrance is free but you can pay 10 euro for a 45 min guided tour which we took. You get to see extra parts of the castle and learn a lot more about its history. Not sure it was worth the extra but it was interesting.

if you love castles this is for you! You have to book online so don't just show up. You only get to see part of the castle but pretty cool. Very reasonable cost and there was an bilingual tour (English and Italian).

Mi potete dire come posso arrivare a Castel dell’Ovo usando i mezzi pubblici? Metro, pullman ecc. Grazie a chi risponderà.

GentilissimaGiulua,
