This church was located just in front of my hotel so I went several times and always was closed, finally, my last day in Naples I reached this place open and by far is the best thing happened to me there, outside you will see a strong architecture, very simple and no so many detailed but, as soon as you... Naples boasts many fine Baroque buildings and quite a few of them are churches. San Giovanni is one of the most exuberant examples of the Baroque and is dripping with marble. When you walk in, plug your ears into Handel's Water Music, to get the full effect. The church itself, may well be playing this music through loud speakers when... More

This church with Angevin tombs and a wonderful frescoed chapel is worth going out of the way to see. It's a gothic style, different from most of the baroque churches you'll see in Naples. We were there on a weekday afternoon and had the place to ourselves.

Be there before noon and enjoy an incredible church. IMHO, in this church you can find a real masterpiece: the XV century floor in the Chapel of Caracciolo Del Sole. I found it mesmerizing.

We have had a very good connection to this site from the Central Naples Railway Station. Just followed one direction straight forward and slightly to the northwest off the Stazione Napoli Centrale by the Via Carbonara in the last section of the way. And what I ought to say is that this church is one genuine jewel in the stone... More

Don't miss this place if you visit this place. This church slightly away from the center is a jewel. Amazing medieval paintings, baroque sculptures.

San Giovanni is loaded with frescoes and sculptures, and a couple of lovely paintings including a Vasari Crucifixion.. The domed Vico chapel and sacristy are really special.a architecturally in a building that shows its age, these rich art works are even more dazzling. Go there now and leave an offering.

This church has an astonishing collection of carved tombs from different periods, some interesting frescoes and a gorgeous floor in one of the chapels. It is slightly off the beaten track, although not far from the archaeological museum, but very much worth a visit. I think it is severely under-rated, and there was only one other visitor the afternoon we... More

Probably the oldest church in Naples-not on the usual tourist tacks but a stunning interior. Dont be put off by the stairs, the trip is worth it. Particular highlight is The Crucifixion by Vasari, a huge and magnificent painting on a side wall in the altar with a fantastic mediaeval tiled floor. Calm and quiet
