Did not know much about Amalfi's history, so found this interesting. From memory, it was just a couple of euros to enter, and we found it worthwhile.

Excellent display of historical artifacts and archaeological objects dating back to Amalfi's glorious period as a maritime power in the Mediterranean.

Went to the Tourist Info office to find its location. Was told that it is now closed and its contents have been transferred to the Arsenale della Republica museum.

I thought I was museumed out after touring Italy for more than 30 days...but this quiet little museum charges a meagre fee, unpretentious guards and they don't mind cameras! YEAH. The marble work, the notes in English, the wonderful collection is a must.

Our hotel advised that there was a walking tour available, this tour took us to the museum. We were so happy we did we learned so much about the history and saw the Amalfi table, a very important document of navigation law dating back in the 11th century. We enjoyed it very much. Don't miss it, it's worth it. There... More

This is a wonderful mixture of ancient within a modern presentation. Very informative. We were taken through by a guide, Michelangelo. He's worth looking up.
