Drove this road from Sorrento to Positano on the last day in May. Got here around noon, and it was not too crowded. Mostly scooters and tiny cars. Stopped at one of the vistas where you can first see the Amalfi Coast in all its...More

This is one of the best, if not the best coastal drives in the world. It is spectacular. However, the road is narrow, busy with cars and buses, hundreds (it feels like hundreds) of blind corners, and passing in opposite directions often difficult sometimes impossible....More

The Amalfi coast is breath taking, but be warned it is extremely busy and the roads are a nightmare to drive because of the volume of traffic. We had a hire car and parking in any of the main towns along the coast was impossible....More

I was not expecting this drive to be as beautiful as it was. The views were spectacular with the very blue water and the cliffs. We stopped at a few of the vista points to take pictures. I highly recommend this drive.

We drove from Naples right along the Amalie Coast, stopping in Sorrento then Amalie, every corner you turned was beautiful, the landscapes, sea and scenery.

We were staying in Sorrento and from very early on we decided that we did not want to drive in Italy. The drivers are all mad. Tour companies wanted 50-100 euros for a trip along the coast but after a bit of research we caught...More

We have been fortunate to visit many coastal roads around the world and listening to friends we were looking forward to seeing the Amalfi coast. When we arrived I questioned why we had come? It certainly would not be in our top ten of coastal...More

We left at 0900 and had a slow drive, not more than 40kph all day, to Positano. The road surfaces were good and from time to time I gritted my teeth when overtaken or two coaches had to pass each with mm to spare! We...More

Despite some of the reviews mentioning the narrow, windy roads and inconsiderate drivers, we decided to drive the Coast Road from Sorrento to Salerno. This was our only option due to my travel sickness, otherwise we wouldn't have seen it. I was quite anxious about...More

The entire coast road starting from Sorrento till Salerno is delight to the eyes. Every nook and corner gives you picture perfect views of the sea. But the road is very very narrow and extremely winding. Hence 2 important things to know 1) it takes...More

Our car was $37 a day plus we spent about $60 on gas. It's a good drive.
Hi, Can I ask what you think about driving the coast road in the dark. We arrive in Naples in the evening and need to get to Furore. Should we pick up a car at the airport and drive or get a taxi? Any advice gratefully received.

Driving is ok but it is very twisty and with coaches and cars parked it can be challenging. We used a driver as it wasn't too expensive and he knew where to take us for the views etc

We are driving to amalphi coast from dover would prefer to drive through France and then coastal route ending up in lake como (hopefully not in it) sounds a bit hairy, we have 2 weeks will that be enough to take in the sights of amalphi and drive home? First timers really have no idea what to expect going end of May. Any help welcomed. Donna

Hi - That is a lot of driving but certainly you could accomplish all you want to see along the Amalfi Coast in two days before heading back up north. That should give you enough time to do all the other things you... More
