Description:

Its sweeping architectural style, complex engineering, and state of the art...

Its sweeping architectural style, complex engineering, and state of the art technology are just some features of what makes this 21st Century artistic space stand out in its mission to enhance art and culture while bringing them closer to the public.

The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, a majestic structure designed by the Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava, should be seen as an impressive monument, a vast sculpture with great symbolic meaning. Since opening on 8th October 2005, the building has become an international point of reference synonymous with the Comunitat Valenciana.

This stunning building, which measures more than 40,000 square meters in size, has four distinct venues for opera, dance performances, recitals and theatre productions.

Very peaceful

We rode our bikes here and just sat outside among the giant pools. We didn't go inside as per the other reviews. It's very peaceful and pretty to look at. Worth a visit.

Yes indeed, everybody likes the Calatrava constructs, bnur I think they are megalomanic hyper constructs of bad material quality. Architect Calatrava, I think, tried to make a fantastic construct, but the result, well I doubt. Have a close look at the materials: rust, ceramics did not fit to the surface...City promotion, Power play.

We didn't go in, just walked around the outside. Great views and some great pictures. Try and save it for a sunny day as the reflection off the building adds to it.

The building is fantastic to look at, they have expositions inside. They're using the water area outside to get kids into bubbles and walk on the water, as well as, water bikes. Much fun.

The architecture is absolutely mind blowing. Not just this building, but all the buildings around it. Wish very much we would have had more time to visit the area

In the ciutat de les Artes you find among others this so beautifull theater. We, of course, took a tour (about an hour) through the whole of it. It was fantastic. So impressive, so strong and overwhelming. Just do it.

The whole City of Arts deserves a visit but the Palau de les Arts is the top of it. Like or not the architectural design of Calatrava (and he is genius, not only Valencian by birth) the whole design of this building is extraordinary. Not only on the outside - you should really take the tour inside the building -... More

Simply incredible, breathtaking brave architecture, over 70 metres in height. Santiago Calatrava has his critics, I personally believe it is pure genius in design and in what he set out to achieve, he accomplishes in tremendous style.

The whole area known as Ciudad de las artes y las Ciencias is imposing and amazing. Not sure I love the architecture, but it is definitely fascinating and imposing. The beautiful reflections demand to be photographed from every possible angle. Wanted to see if from inside and was lucky to experience a Johann Strauss concerto in the beautiful Anfiteatro. The...
