We debated whether or not to go in to the bullring as we were a bit tight on time, but were very glad we did. Really affordable and includes an audio guide. The woman working at the entrance was very nice and helpful.

Less is More Part 403 - Teasing Toros

Not many visitors in October. Practically had the whole place to ourselves. 6€ is fair price to pay for entry which includes a very informative audio guide. An excellent and intense video introduction sets the tone before seeing the rest of the place and exhibits. Whether one agrees or not with the concept of this sport, it is something quintessentially Spanish, fiercely passionate and can certainly be considered an art form. This is the consistent messaging coming from the various short films screened along the way. Architecturally quite stunning. Small gift shop with nice related souvenirs. Allow at least 60 minutes.

It looks impressive from the outside

During my stay in Pamplona, I must have passed the bullring 15 times! It really looks nice and I considered taking the tour of the inside, but didn't. I did walk around it and got the pictures on the outside.

Such an interesting place, complete with an audio tour. Good value with a model of the town showing the route of the run which we later walked.

Interesting presentation of how a corrida/bull fight works
Sep 2019
Not being a fan of what I had seen before on the custom of the matadors in Spain I felt a visit to the bull ring might give some insight. It did. A film presentation of the rearing of the male calves who have a good life before being entered into bull fights.
The stadium or bull ring is impressive with audio explanations to guide you along. You then go 'back stage' where you can see how the bulls are housed etc and view the matador costumes. There is then a small cinema to watch the running of the bulls through the streets and their entry into the bull ring. Then scenes from the bull fight. Not pleasant viewing as seeing animals suffer is not my scene. However it was an insight into an old Spanish custom and worth a visit. In a street outside the bull ring is a very good statue of the running of the bulls.

Hemingway Lives Here, in the Heart of all San Fermins...
Aug 2018 • Family
This Plaza is of the right size to see the matadores close by. One can visit it for few euros and can practice one's bullfighting skills. They have a fake bull for pics and a Capote and wheeled "toro" to practice Tauromaquia (Bullfighting). It brought me back to the times when, as a child, after maneuvering my way into the ring for free, I saw matadores like Manuel Benitez, "El Corbobes"; Santiago Martin, "El Viti"; Cesar Giron. The pageantry of bullfighting is fantastically medieval and colorful. I am glad I lived it before it became politically incorrect (which I agree it is horrible). This bloody event could be made more humane if the bulls were not killed at the end. The plaza is at the end of the Calle Estafeta (Post Office Street), which in itself is where the action is before el Encierro (running) and la Corrida de San Fermin (Bullfight).

The end of the running of the bulls and historical place just a few blocks from the main square. Read the history of the building and area located on several posts along the way.

Bullring
Oct 2018 • Couples
Plaza de Toros de Pamplona is the sight of the Bullring in the city, which was built between 1921-1922. It is in a central location and is the destination of all those who participate (and manage to complete) in that famous race called the running of the bulls. This race takes place once a year during the Festival of San Fermin, also known as Sanfermines, in honour of Saint Fermin, a patron saint of Navarre. The festivities start on the 6th of July and last for a week. The Bullring is quite large and very colourful too. There is a museum inside. The Sanfermines is a central theme in Ernest Hemingway's "The Sun Also Rises", which made the festival famous throughout the English speaking world. There is a bust of Hemingway with a dedication, outside the Bullring and a passageway outside is named after him.
