Nice streets to 2 Walk by, mainly on afternoon and evening. Mostly bars and surprisingly low number of coffee houses.

I was not keen on this area when I came at night as I found it a little dodgy however when wandering through the streets during the day it is perfectly pleasant but it does not have the pull of Chueca for instance.

You've seen this area on postcards now it's time to visit. Lots of restaurants and bars. Some are good in the evening for tapas. Hold on to your wallet in front of pants (pickpockets) but enjoy yourself. Some unusual places on the side streets.

This was the meeting place for our tour of the day. Photographers, take your cameras and make sure you have enough space on cards

Firstly, Barrio de Las Letras is a central district of Madrid close to almost everything you would want to visit while there. Secondly, you have so many cafes and restaurants and a vivid nightlife, that you cannot get bored at all.

Barrio d Las Letras is supposedly the tapas area of Madrid but all 4 of us were very disappointed as the tapas were not good and expensive. There are better bars away from this area. Also many of the bars were inaccessible for wheelchairs and...More

We did this neighborhood on a walking tour and is just amazing to be on the same places so many great literary figures had been. The area is safe and really interesting, wear comfortable shoes and enjoy.

This is a nice and interesting area, rather lively and with a strong bohemian/hippie vibe. I like the passages that are inscribed on the grounds, most coming from quotes by famous writers and historic literary works. The area is mainly composed of narrow streets where...More

Beautiful plazas and street after street of fun. Incredibly lively and full of bars and clubs that keep going till dawn. The streets and plazas themselves are full of people drinking or just chilling out. Fantastic part of this amazing city.

Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once
home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de
Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The
neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich
heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes
from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to
them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas
