Its a sherry bar, that looks as though it has stayed the same since 1930. Which I guess adds to the charm. 5 types of sherry are on offer. Manzanilla (lightest of the sherries), Fino (the driest), Oloroso (slightly dry and slightly sweet) , Amontillado(nutty,...More

A destination for Madrileños and popular with tourists too. Dimly lit corridor of a bar, with basic seating, a ceiling fan (no air con), Jerez posters from the 60's peeling from the walls, 5 types of sherry mostly decanted from big barrels (Fino, Manzanilla, Amontillado,...More

You feel unwelcomed from the moment you step inside.. This place received many great reviews for its rustic charm, but we only met with Sour faced bar staff, no air conditioning and no atmosphere. We had a glass of sherry and got out of there...More

Quaint and adorable. They serve 5 sherrys and a variety of tapas. The service was the only reason we didn't give it 5 stars. The bartender was not very welcoming or helpful. The sherry was good. The atmosphere was great. Worth a stop in.

La Venencia is a superb, old school spot for Sherry and authentic tapas. The selection is limited to sherry, so know your types before you head in. 30 seconds with Google, and you'll get the idea. My favourite is Amontillado. First-timers might prefer Fina. Find...More

We visited this place on the recommendation of our guide book and were glad we did. This is a bar full of Spanish locals enjoying a bottle or glass of sherry, of which there are many to choose. You get no advice or assistance in...More

Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once
home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de
Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The
neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich
heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes
from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to
them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas
receives a fair amount of spillover from the center —
