This is a nice museum in Recoletos. It costs 3 Euros the entrance fee. They have a great exhibition on Joan Miro's paintings. When I went, there was a temporary exhibition on Lee Freedlander's pictures and portraits, really interesting!

This is a lovely art museum, and we enjoyed our visit very much. Though I would not include it on my “must-see” list for Madrid, a city that has so many wonderful art museums and galleries. Located in a late-19th century palace between the Plaza de Colon and Fuente de Cibeles, the Fundación MAPFRE's gallery is modest in size (about 10,00- square feet). It focuses on beginnings of modernism and consists of a permanent collection with sixty-five works by Miró and temporary exhibits. Distributed on three floors, the exhibits are well-curated and displayed. During our early March visit, we started with the permanent collection on the ground floor. I’m not a particular fan of Miró, but I enjoyed it. The temporary exhibit occupied two floors and was excellent. It explored the similarities and differences between Rodin and Giacometti, two artists who never met. As I was going through the exhibit, I could only see mostly differences between the two artists. But even the contrast provided a new appreciation for Rodin, which was a nice complement to an earlier visit to the Rodin Museum in Philadelphia years ago.

Foundation Mapfy is accommodated in a building designed by the famous architect Agustín Ortiz de Villajos for the Duchess of Medina de las Torres which I found it underwhelming. But if you love art, you will love the immersive displays kept here. Is the place to watch full Surrealist Miró, Joanhe passed by Abstract, Cubism... Foundation Mapfy got a collection of 60 masterpieces to learn, to watch and enjoy! Especially there is Free Entry on Mondays from 2.00 pm to 8.00 pm and general admissions only Euros 3 per person. I strongly recommend you to have half hour stop here in case you are having lunch at the nearby restaurant liked I did. But if you ask me if this worth a special detour to come and visit, I will have to say no unless the tempeory exhibition is extraordinary. So please check it up before making any decision.
