The monument is huge and dominates the artificial lake where you can hire a row boat, feed the fish, ducks or just sit at one of the cafes and enjoy a snack or lunch. Plenty of people out enjoying themselves in the sunshine.

The monument is large and is set in front of the artificial lake within the Buen Retiro Park. I think it’s so large that it somewhat overpowers the lake and setting which is largely natural gardens in Forest.

If you can only see one monument in Madrid then this is definitely the one. The place to see it from is from across the boating lake but unfortunately they are redoing the cobbles so the view is slightly marred by fencing.
