This square is a rather abandoned as Plaza Mayor is just a few minutes up the road and is always busy. The square has a pretty garden.and worth a visit on your way past.

This is a historic square in Madrid dating back to the 16th century and is surrounded by three equally historic and important buildings. To the right of the square is the Casa de la Villa which served as the town hall of Madrid from the...More

I stumbled across this square by accident whilst looking for the Plaza Mayor. I was there early in the morning, so it was devoid of people. I can imagine it would be a great place to relax and enjoy a glass of wine.

This square is very pretty and worth a short detour to visit. It does not seem to have the same number of touts as other nearby squares - maybe due to the government buildings and soldiers?

My tour guide took me there. She was saying this is her favorite plaza in Madrid and most beautiful. There are some gov buildings and historical buildings as well. It was OK for me.

This pedestrian plaza is smaller and less touristy than others in Madrid. A couple of very old buildings have been reconstructed in their original style which gives the place a nice feel. No souvenir shops ;-)

Probably the most neglected square in Madrid, but still beautiful. Located halfway between the Royal Palace and the Plaza Mayor, where you will come across this lovely square. It seems almost by chance that you got here. You can’t help but be fascinated. My advice...More

No shops, museums or restaurants drew me in to this small, three-sided pedestrian plaza by Calle Mayor. Instead, the beauty of the place stopped me in my tracks en route to the royal palace. As an architecture buff, I found the contrasting building styles appealing.and...More

Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street
performers, colorful lights, window shopping,
restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and
churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a
collection of plazas interconnected by a network of
side streets. Some of these side streets are wide
pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so
it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as
