This was the greatest disappointment of our holiday. The meal was overpriced and tasteless. I described it to my partner as a school dinner. The food was practically thrown at us. All you get is a bit of meat and 3 potatoes!! This restuarant is...More

It may seem like a tourist necessity, but guess what - the locals frequent this place. Yes you must eat the suckling pig and check out the kitchen. Amazing how time seems to have stopped here.

Travelled to Madrid in November 2017. This is an amazing historical restaurant, I'd love to visit again. From what I understand their recipes are very old and they have been open for business, literally for ever! I had a lovely squid in squid ink dish...More

Both ordered the suckling pig. Very nice. Quite expensive for what you get (2 pieces of meat and 3 potatoes) but you pay for the fact of the age of the restaurant. Saying that definitely worth going and tastes lovely.

A bit of Madrid history. Took publicized, prebooked tour which was great. The food is not as good as Restaurant in Segovia.

Heard about the place and wanted to eat in the restaurant. Expected the restaurant to be expensive but it was just the normal price. The food tasted great. Plan to go back if in Madrid.

Regarded as the world's oldest restaurant does mean tourists flock here. The food might be so-so but it has entered the Guinness book of world records.

Very pleasant place, nice food. I do recommend to visit and ask for the “plaza baja”. But Waiters seem hurried to make you eat and leave soon.

We really enjoyed this restaurant, food is great, services is good. The sangria was exceptional. Needed reservation. It's not open all day. I also liked the Real Madrid across from restaurant!

Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street
performers, colorful lights, window shopping,
restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and
churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a
collection of plazas interconnected by a network of
side streets. Some of these side streets are wide
pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so
it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as

We had the roasted suckling pig and vegetable etc (but no wine, only Sangria and juice). We paid less than 50 Euro.
