We really enjoyed this Basilica as well as the free tour even though it was in Spanish. Our docent took us to places that we wouldn't have seen and pointed out things we wouldn't have even noticed.

Very very very beautiful place. Also the lighting during the night makes it fantastic for taking pictures.

The majority of Basilicas are magnificant in Europe and the Real Basilica does not disappoint! Recommend very early in the morning or very late evening during summer.

Worth visiting, the frescoes and windows are beautiful, and the building itself is both historic and beautiful.

As we had a view of the basilica from our hotel, we went and looked around. The grounds outside are often filled with local families and is a good place to get the atmosphere of Madrid. The insides are fascinating and worth the entry fee...More

I have been to many cathedrals and basilicas in Europe and this one rates very high among all of those. Upon entering, I felt like the interior was quite similar to St. Paul's cathedral in London but the paintings, frescoes, stained glass and chapels were...More

Words cannot describe the beauty of the inside of this basilica. The view of the dome, which is reputed to be the largest in the world, is breathtaking. And the availability of a guide, albeit in Spanish-speaking only is a big plus

In truth I am not entirely sure. I know we visited after 10am during the week but do not recall the exact date. We visited Madrid three times and we found it open once. Our experience was "hit and miss". Apologies for... More
