Way above our expectations! We chose the historical tour and found John to be a fabulous guide - friendly, informative, full of stories and recommendations, very happy to accommodate our pace, spent time to find out what sort of tour we really wanted and adapted to fit. No hesitation to recommend John as your guide for a running tour in... More

We looked up at trip advisor site, and booked the tour. John was an excellent guide. He felt the group in matter of running pace(differences between group members). John has a vast history knowledge, so he told us all about the interesting places we've ran through. He took us through the alleys and small places in the way. We had... More

We found Madrid Running Tours through an online search. Setting up our run/tour was easy through the web site and John was quick to respond and confirm our tour begin time and price. John met us outside of the building we were staying at and provided us with an amazing morning of running and visiting sites and neighborhoods in Madrid... More

A great guide who made the run entertaining and knew his stuff. Tailored the tour to my interests and was accurate with the distance. Would definitely recommend!

John was an engaging, enthusiastic and encouraging guide. He showed us many sights in Madrid, gave us a commentary about their architecture, history and significance, and kept us motivated to run over 20Km over a period of four hours- quite a feat! The photos he sent us after the run were a lovely momento of the day. Highly recommended.

I ran with MRT yesterday and it was without a doubt the best way to see Madrid. John shared a lot of insights on architecture and history. We also passed by some hidden treasures that not every tourist would be able to see. If you're in Madrid on business, this is the perfect plan since you'll get in a good... More

This was my first time visiting Madrid. I wanted a basic tour of Madrid before running the Rock n Roll Madrid Half Marathon. What I received was more than basic. This is the best tour I've had on all my travels. The pace of the run was our pace. John took us to places that only a person from Madrid... More

Well worth it! I am a jogging "aficionado" who jogs approximately one hour, three times a week. However, I have always felt somewhat uncomfortable when doing so in a foreign city; getting lost or avoiding unsafe areas being a concern. Madrid Running Tours and my guide John provided me with a feeling of security which allowed me to fully enjoy... More

Visiting Madrid for the first time I was a little daunted by where to run so signed up to John's company Madrid Running Tours. In the early hours of our first morning there, as planned, John met me at our hotel and we were soon off for a 90 minute run ( with stops). John gave a running commentary -... More

I cannot say enough good things about MRT! I was only in the city for 2 short nights. I never would have been able to see so much of Madrid had it not been for the tour. It was an absolute blast! Highlights: Seeing the city before everyone wakes up (I chose an early run). Learning about all of the... More

Staying in Arguelles

Neighbourhood Profile
Arguelles
Just south of the sprawling campus of the Complutense University of Madrid, Arguelles exudes a fast-paced, collegiate vibe. The main street, Calle Princesa, is filled with twenty-somethings rushing between classes and errands, meeting up with classmates, and grabbing cheap beers and cheap eats. This is a prime shopping spot where the major Spanish clothing and department store chains are less busy than their downtown counterparts, and there is an array of casual dining options to choose from. Check out nearby outdoor spaces such as the lushly planted Plaza de España to the south, which is often filled with craft stalls. To the west of Arguelles is the giant Parque Oueste, a calm and picturesque park with its own Egyptian temple.
