We spent part of our day in Retiro Park; the shade was most welcome and the park is beatiful and very relaxing. It is a grieat break from the crowds and noise of the city.

This park is huge and delightful. Even on a very hot day there is plenty of shade. The trees are magnificent as is the boating lake and stupendous memorial to Alfonso. Do not miss the Parterre, the Cristal Palace and Velázquez Palace. Food is limited...More

Loved Retiro Park this visit in particular. It was a hot, loud day in Madrid. Getting lost among the trees and hanging out with the big, bossy magpies was just the ticket.

Nice park to meander thru with lots of things to discover and keep you interested, you could easily lose yourself in here for a half day away from the main city.

For better or worse, I always compare large municipal parks to Central Park, and this place compares very, very favorably. Beautiful, spacious, varied and restful. There is a little bit of everything here and it is huge, which is why we went twice on our...More

This is where the young locals go. Many families, friends, and singles. Runners, walkers, and people in small clusters. While it is large and some portions not crowded, I felt safe.

Retiro Park is one of my favorite places, it has everything from a Roman area, very romantic and with peacocks, to flower gardens. It is also very cultural as many expats who have built fitness, arts or like me Photography often us the park as...More

From Metro Sol take the red line and go to Retiro station. The exit is just there at the door of the park. If you want to buy cheaper food before entering the park just cross the street and walk some steps in Lagasca street... More

If you want good food to go, you can either walk into any restaurant or go to a supermarket. I always look for a Super Cor. Those are the supermarkets of the Corte Inglés group and they are all around the park. They have... More
