Visited this huge park in the morning. Some renovations going on, but not too disturbing. It is a charming place. Loved Velasquez Palace and the Crystal palace. So many lovely corners to see.

The Retiro is quite crowded in some areas, particularly at weekends. But if one heads towards the south west, one finds beautiful almost deserted forest areas which are enchanting

After arriving in Madrid and strolling the crowded streets it was a relief to slip into Retiro Park and leave the traffic noise behind. We got to see many friends, families and couples enjoying their park.

Well worth spending several hours here if you have time in Madrid. It's a great place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city and sit on the grass under a tree. I had the most perfect weather when I was there...More

Nice park to walk through. In the middle is a boating lake with a cafe where you can sit and watch and also passing buskers entertain you throughout the day. Also by the lake were a couple of stalls to look at.

The weather was very hot so we kept to the shady walks and enjoyed drinks at the cafe by the boating lake.

There's a lot to see and do here, but for us it was a place to be a way from the hustle and bustle of the city and to wake up after our overseas flight. The Crystal Palace, the pond and then we laughed when...More

I think the park itself is always open. The Crystal Palace may not be. It was closed when I was there last winter. And you don't need advanced tickets for the boat- there was a line but it went quick.

No need. It’s not so big and you want to look around slowly. There’s lots of birds and animals to see.
