Go here for drinks, some of the cheap tapas and to experience the environment. You’ll likely walk past it many times while exploring the city. It’s better to go early when it’s not super crowded because it can get so crowded that you’ll have no...More

These type of markets are becoming more and more common everywhere I’ve traveled to and even back home. That said, you can tell this one is more authentic and you can really get a taste of Spain for very little money. It was a fun...More

The Mercado San Miguel aims at tourists with big wallets. Everything is overpriced and the taste of the food is mediocre at best. There are much beter options in Madrid.

We enjoyed drinks and a few tapas while taking in the awe of Mercado San Miguel. It was a nice break from our walking the city. (Tip save your receipt if you want to use the restrooms).

We arrived on the day the markets opened post renovations. They are very small markets, especially compared to Barcelona. The food is good quality but it is very expensive.

Very popular on a Sunday afternoon. Very busy but delicious food and drinks. Wonderful stalls selling everything to eat and drink. Buzzing atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

We stumbled across the Marcato while walking through our neighborhood. It is spectacular, the food is so beautifully displayed, there is a huge variety from which to choose and is bustling with energy.

This has the largest array and variety of Tapas of anywhere else I've been to in Madrid. And I used to live in Madrid. It's very popular both with locals and tourists. The food and wine are both good, and the variety of choices are...More

Wonderful tapas and decent prices. I had hand-made churros for 4Euros – there is stand-up space to eat.

Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street
performers, colorful lights, window shopping,
restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and
churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a
collection of plazas interconnected by a network of
side streets. Some of these side streets are wide
pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so

Yes, it’s always a good time - but I prefer a bit later to enjoy beer and tapas!
