This is the best way to get up the Rock if you're fit and able. It starts by the Pillars of Hercules.... walk up there as you can't park from the road just on the left after the Rock Hotel. The path starts from just being the bird observatory and has been made a lot safer than it used to... More

This us a hard walk. The top of the steps are nit signposted so you will need a map to find them. We went down the steps and it took well over an hour. We had no idea it would be so far and there is nothing en route to indicate how much further to the bottom but glad we... More

Hard work but defiantly worth it for the view. Make sure you are wearing sensible shoes and if it's summer plenty of water.

We walked down the steps at sunset after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor and we're glad we did. The walk still wasn't easy but it seemed much easier than if we were going up. But the views were magnificent

We love this walk every time we visit Gib and it's a walk not every visitor to the rock may be aware of Having once lived here I knew of the walk. You can walk or take a taxi or cable car to the top and walk down the steps which goes steeply down the beach side of the rock... More

Follow the paths and the tunnels - cling onto the rock face - this is an adventure in itself - not for the fainthearted or unfit - its quite a challenge but great fun

A strenuous walk but well worth it for the views. You do need a good head for heights and some of the path is quite rough. The lower entrance of the path, by the Jewish Cemetry is not well marked but there are plenty of people there to ask for advice.

My Husband and I enjoyed the challenge of walking round the Mediterranean Steps. However, one does need to be reasonably fit and wear suitable footwear. There are no cafes on the way round so it is advisable to take some water with you.

We arrived at Jews gate and the man looked very dubious when we said we would take the Med steps. I am quite fit ( regular gym goer) but I found this hard going. It took at least an hour and was tough. If you are not fit do not go as it would be a waste to turn back.... More

One of the coolest places on the Rock. Absolutely fantastic view on the steep side of the Rock. The best way to go down from the Rock.
