It is not a spectacular area, but has great views. I did not have, nor did I see problems between people and apes, except for a situation in which a gentleman after giving food to them (that is forbidden), two jumped on him, and one...More

Most of the apes hang round the tourist spots waiting for the minibuses to turn up. That is where you will see most!!

The fortification area of the city is inhabited by Barbary Apes that are seemingly everywhere. They are rather brazen and will approach you if you have food!

Stopped and spent about 15 minutes looking at scenery and enjoying watching the apes. I even got to hold one with the help of our guide Carlos. They were cute and seemed quite friendly.

The monkeys are really cute, they are everywhere and feel really "at home" there. Anyway I am glad I stayed in the car. They are totally freaky, jump on people and you cannot forsee their behaviour. From inside the car, an unusual experience.

First of all, they are not Apes, they are monkeys. We were on a group tour and visiting the den. Me and a few others walked around, the monkeys are very aggressive and will bite and scratch and jump on you if you get close....More

We visited the Barbary Apes as part of a tour of Gibraltar. We drove right up to the scenic lookout and feeding areas, so no steep walks for us. The monkeys are the healthiest I've ever seen, and they are everywhere. Our guide warned us...More

As the cable car no longer seems to stop at half way its a long walk down from the top or take a taxi tour, all owned by the same company by the looks

Monkeys everywhere! They're quite used to humans so you can get pretty close. Be careful with food and unattached items though, because they are eager to grab and steal it from you.

Was interesting to see these animals, but found them to be quite aggressive and not comfortable to be around them. Some poor women had one jump on her head and pull her hair. Very unpredictable don't even have food in your pockets.

Hi I have a second question, how interactive with the monkey's is this tour? I've seen many pictures with people holding and playing with the monkeys and I really want to have an experience like that!! Or set it up so my boyfriend can! Thank you, Katie

I would be careful with that. When we went there were some young baby ones and some of the adult apes were pretty aggressive. Remember even though they see people daily they are wild animals. Some will come up to you... More

Hi I really want to surprise my Boyfriend with a trip to the Ape Den, however, I can't find a website with the link to the tickets. I would like to attend this tour through your company, but I will be in Gibraltar is there a way to meet the guide at a specific location? Or is there a tour group that meets in Gibraltar? THank you, Katie

You can get to the apes den easily by going up in the cable car or you can take a taxi trip up which takes in all the important sights, apes den included.

Do you need to take the scary looking tram to see the monkeys? My wife and I are not keen about heights.
