From outside the tinted doors can give impression its closed - when it is not. Do not plan for visit being longer than an hour. The entry staff seem a bit over zealous but perhaps better in busier times

This is a very interesting Museum particularly if you have just finished The Camino as you will be interested in the history behind the pilgrimage. It also has good general information about Santiago de Compostela. We went on Sat afternoon when it is free.

The new Pilgrimage Museum is easy to miss, even though it is right by the main entrance to the cathedral, but seek it out as it is well worth the effort and will occupy your time and interest for lengthy period.
