Family attended the Montserrat from Cardona. We took the train up without hardship or delay after parking our rental car. Very nice walking path on outside at Monastery proper level that took us about 25 minutes to reach end. Sites within were nice.

My husband and I took a half day trip to Montserrat from Barcelona through Julia Travels. The monastery itself is amazing and worth a visit if you are in the area. I'd recommend a tour as that's how you get all of the background information...More

Though it is about an hour and a half away from Barcelona by train, go and visit Montserrat. Buy the train/funicular/etc ticket and enjoy.

Free to enter and an incredible experience. We went in July and unfortunately missed the boys choir but it was still stunning. Really good surrounding dramatic views and everything maintained to a high standard. Good coffee shop / restaurant and souvenir shop.

They are supposed to sing at 1 p.m. But get there early. And know that the boys' choir might not be there at all. It's summer break for at the site.
