Almost like being on Game of Thrones film set

Great architecture, history and design of the cathedral and made more special by the filming of Game of Thrones.

What an awesome and surreal experience it was visiting this cathedral! Totally felt like a scene from Game of Thrones with all the medieval architecture and design from the series plus the stairs and hills surrounding it. What I was most stunned by was that it's the 2nd largest cathedral nave in the world, only behind The Vatican. When you... More

The steps in front of the Cathedral are impressive. Surprisingly, it was not overcrowded with tourists, compared with the Cathedral in Barcelona. It costs €7 to go in the Cathedral and Basilica. The side door at the left side is a good place to enjoy the sunshine.

We paid 7 euros' combined ticket to go inside the cathedral and the basilica because of reviews. Unfortunately we advise you to stay outside. The basilica was literally empty inside. The cathedral had very little to offer. We would rather spend the 7 euros in a restaurant in Girona! Definitely don't pay for the churches! Stay outside and admire the... More

Three of the four of us are big Game of Thrones fans. Girona the scene of much of season 6 presented an opportunity to visit the scenes of our favorite TV show. Girona a cathedral was the highlight. We were pleased to see the Cathedral still standing. It was blown up in the last episode of season 6. The stairs... More

the Cathedral was built between the 11th and 18th centuries . We wander around with our head phones and try to take in as much of the art and history as we can . There are some amazing displays of sculptures and art in gold and silver. We roam through the cloister courtyard too and have a look in the... More

This cathedral is at the top of some very steep steps so no good for prams or wheelchairs. Put on the walking shoes. Very impressive stays over the old quarter in a little square. The buildings spurring it are very impressive but ensure you take the walk around the outside as it is very interesting with the types of buildings.

Girona has such a rich history and the cathedral is part of this history. This ancient cathedral was originally used by the Moors as a mosque. It was then rebuilt or remodelled by the great Majorcan architect Jaume Fabre and is an excellent example of Catalan Gothic architecture. We did not have time to see inside but the outside is...
