Be prepared for the vastness of the Gothic nave vault, the largest in the world! There is so much to see here! We were fortunate to be there when some of the precious chapels were being restored. Painstaking work for sure. I am so glad I took detailed photographs of the Creation Tapestry because it is one of the top... More

Not one of Spain or Europe's great cathedrals, it's nevertheless a must-see for its stolid presence and good views. The best way to get a sense of the importance of this church is to see it from above on the old walls. Then you'll recognize how much the cathedral dominates not just the city scape but the landscape of the... More

Nice and impressive cathedral with a lot of chapels. You can walk around in your own time, with an individual device for the auditour which you could start whenever you want. Only if you do not know a lot about the history of Catalonia and Spain it is hard to follow everything because a lot of historical details where shared.

The Girona cathedral is a massive masterpiece of 11th century Romanesque architecture. It is the 2nd widest nave, second only to a cathedral in Rome. When you walk inside, the size is INCREDIBLE. I have been to many beautiful cathedrals in Europe and this is certainly the largest and most impressive. For Game of Thrones fans, the steps leading to... More

The Cathedral of Saint Mary of Girona is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic! Make sure you count the steps going up... and then count them going down... then send me an email on your thoughts

This is a Cathredral which was rebuild 2-3 times to accommodate the needs of the expanded city. The original Cathedral was build around 1,000 years ago but during the time of different rulers and as the city was growing there was need for a larger cathedral. The facade of teh building is very beauitiful, decorated with many ornament it is... More

Another quality cathedral with an interesting history much of which is explained on the tour by various means. Given that this has such a special architectural history I thought the information was lacking

On this site there was a Romanesque church in the 11 th century . Gothic was begun in 14th and finished in 1579. The nave completed in 1417 is the widest of any Gothic church in the world. The facade was built in 1733, it looks a bit like a square iced cake

Didn't go inside the catedral, but just the external is super recommended. Enjoy also the walks and gardens around the catedral. You can easily spend hours there, superb!

Worth visiting, just to wonder at the scale of the single-nave architecture, reportedly the widest in the western world! Two different approaches possible, each providing amazing views: one from below the hill, up from the massive 90+ step stairs; the other from above, down from the remains of the ancient GIrona city walls.
