I think people are turned off by the idea of visiting a hospital, but this is a highly under-the-radar site to see for so much more than just a hospital. Incredible architrechture--bright, cheerful, fantastical! Wonderful history. Hospital espoused an impressive approach to public healthcare. Not...More

It's good to have a look at it before you see the new Hospital de la Santa Creu and Sant Pau. Lots of homeless people there in the evening...

This place is near the market and La Rambla, not another former hospital near La Sagrada Familia. It is just a huge stone building without many things to offer. One may even pass by without realizing this structure.

Amazing architecture, gardens and story of early 20th entury approach to hospitals and patient care. There is a lot written information as you follow route around renovated parts of buildings and grounds and no real need for the audio guide which I paid for. I enjoyed...More

The grounds alone are amazing, and well kept. When you realize when this hospital was built and you tour the hospital space with the same iron beds they used at the turn of the century. The murals and mosaic on the walls is so lovely....More

If you have an interest in the history of medicine, I'd definitely recommend going here and getting the audio guide. Otherwise, it's generally interesting because this hospital was built for the poor. Only about 15minute walk from Sagrada Familia, in a straight line. It's generally...More

At the very city center, just in front of the so called Teatre Romea. Acces to the square and enjoy the calmed ambiance, take a seat at the restaurant (if you are lucky today), and let time go by. A book would be a very...More

This has to be the most fascinating hospital visit i have ever been on! Interesting to see the old hospital buildings and marvelling all the great architecture and art at the same time. Breathtaking views of the city as well. Totally recomended.

As the last person has said, this site is the 600 year old hospital in El Raval, not the Domenech design near Sagrada Familia. Both are great visits but totally different. This is amazing to realize Barcelona was solving health care 600 years ago when...More

There are two sites in Barcelona with similar sounding names, and they are two very different places! Most of the reviews, photos and even the TripAdvisor location map on this webpage actually relate to a place called Sant Pau Recinte Modernista, or in some guidebooks...More

Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this
gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an
excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic
spots in the entire city. A sense of humble
authenticity protrudes from the many independent
record stores, second hand shops, and student bars
that seem to light up the streets day and night. The
rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day
