We came across this large, three-story building when wandering the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter. The Palau de la Generalitat and the City Hall opposite dominate the Quarter’s massive Placa de Santa Jaume. It was Easter weekend when we came here and a crowd...More

Palau dela Generalitat de Catalunya is a nicely built structure on Placa St. Jaume of the Gotic Quarter. It is quite impressive among the neighboring buildings and visitors normally come to take photos in front of the building with flags flying high above.

Catalonia's government building is huge stone one in the middle of Barcelona's Gothic quarter. It may be interesting inside, but the facade is unimpressive.

I visited during St George's Day when they open to the public. Such a beautiful building, and a very interesting visit. Recommended if you happen to be around for April 23rd! (Saint Jordi is the patron saint of Catalunya.)

We were lucky that when we visited it was between demonstrations so we could really drink in the square.

This government building stands in a nice and relaxing plaza atmosphere. You can get coffee, a light bite to eat at the numerous shops. Enjoy

A palatial building on Plaça de Sant Jaume. Here is the government of Catalonia. I did not go inside, but I think it's possible with prior reservation.

This is a lovely building with some lovely statues next to it. It is located in the center of the Gothic quarter, and while it was not accessible to the public, it's still lovely to appreciate it for a couple of minutes.

Placa de Sant Jaume is an impressive square surrounded by a group of stunning buildings. The Palau de las Generalitat de Catalunya is the seat of the Catalan presidency and government. The main ornate façade demands attention, especially when it is guarded by armed police...More
