With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighbourhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. In the midle of Gothic Old Town of Barcelona there is a small restaurant with perfect food - in the season you will have to wait for the table but it is worth to. !

Very local. If you want to feel the life of Spain and its residents visit Bar La Plata. The food choices are limited and are all excellent. The ladies in the back are experts with the fryers. The guy at the bar is a bit gruff but he only adds to the charm. We stumbled on this place our first night and went back for a quick glass of wine once more during our visit. The food is great, the wine is good and the beer is cold. Best of all it is exactly what you think of when you think of Spain and a stop during a tapas crawl.

This place is very cosy and welcoming, it was fairly busy for a sat night. They only do a selection of 6 tapas and 5 were available on the night we visited. For me the selection was pretty below average for such a small menu, a plate of chopped tomatoes with onion, a plate of four sardines, sausage on bread which is something that felt more English pub like than Spanish tapas, the fried anchovies were nice but no sauce or lemon etc provided. Overall not great, much better selections elsewhere

They do 3/4 dishes and they do them really well. If you're in the mood for small, fried fish and white wine from the barrel then it's ideal. Loved this place

My family and I loved this place! Such yummy tapas and 3 choices of wine right from the barrel! We tried each of the wines and loved them all. The staff was so kind and helpful. This was our favorite food/drink spot in Barcelona!

As my twin brother Stephen and I were wandering around the wonderful old streets of the Gothic Quarter we chanced upon this superb bar and what a great find.
An authentic traditional Spanish tapa bar with great decor and furnishings including a cool looking blue tiled serving bar and plenty of seating options spread throughout this tapa bar, it's a really nice place to unwind in.
We were here on a really hot Monday night, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of staff who served us a beer each, we just chilled out and took in the great bar we were in and the stunning location.
My beer was just so fresh and refreshing, on a hot night there's nothing more I enjoy than a cooling beer and the beer served here is iced cold.
This is certainly one popular tapa bar and on our visit was absolutely rammed with a great atmosphere but with beers this cold hardly surprising really.
We really enjoyed our beers in here and although we only stayed for the one beer before we moved on for a first time visit we were very impressed with this bar.
Bar La Plata is easy to locate on Carrer Merce in the magnificent Gothic Quarter which is in an area teeming with pubs, bars and restaurants and some amazing architecture and a major tourist destination.
If your in this part of town I highly recommend you visit this bar.

Having lived in Barcelona before, La Plata was our regular stop prior to evening meal. on our recent holiday in Barce, we stopped in to see our long time friend Ferran. we each recognized each other going back 25 years. The pescaditas (bouqerones) and home made wines are still fabulous. I highly recommend a nightly stop and say hola to this fine gentleman.

It is places like this that make travel so rewarding and memorable!
The food, though simple, was wonderful. The ambience of this tiny bar/restaurant is so thick, you could cut it with a knife! A great spot for tapas, wine or beer, and watching the locals.
