The last day of our multi country trip to Europe, our party of 4 looked forward to spending time in El Born. We've all been to Barcelona several times and were excited to look at the handmade craft stores and eat at some great tapas...More

Walk through is fine. Try not to eat or shop as this is another tourist trap. Barcelona has so much more to offer Do a little research and you will find true artisans in this city.

We spend a lovely afternoon in Born, shopping for beautiful handmade fashion, jewellery and ceramics, then a delicious tapas lunch at Bar del Pla. A great place to visit, definitely underated on the tourist circuit!

Great little area of eating, shopping and more eating. The sounds of church bells ring out from Basilica de Santa Maria

Nice area of older Barcelona. The narrow streets, small shops and restaurants remind us a bit of Venice. Good area to wander around and perhaps get lost like we did!

This medieval neighborhood is perhaps the most interesting in all of Barcelona! The streets are named after the trades that worked in them several hundred years ago. Today, the twisty narrow little labyrinth of streets contain a cornucopia of unique shops and some of the...More

This is one of the better places to see old Barcelona with its narrow dark streets, interesting architecture and small and interesting shops and restaurants. Allow a few hours to stroll around and take in the sights.

The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent
the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But
this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually
enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few
places that live and breathe such exciting energy
regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood
seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the
city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants

Mercer House in El Born. Transportation to and from the airport in Barcelona is cheap and easy. You can take the airport bus into the city for $6.

We stayed at Inside Barcelona Apartments Mercat, which is smack bang in the middle of El Born, overlooking the old market. Perfect location and a really awesome apartment!

Can't remember now but check out Rick Steves travel book on Barcelona. We did the walks he laid out and they were terrific. He suggested restaurants along the way and the different sites we passed.
