Unknowingly, we chose a hotel in L'Eixample District. It is central to most of Barcelona, so we could walk to almost anything worth seeing (almost). There are also a lot of good restaurants in this area so you don't have to go far to enjoy...More

A great area for shopping. It's a bit far from the centre of things but worth a visit. You can take the hop on hop of bus to get there.

We stayed in this more modern area of Barcelona and really enjoyed it. The shopping is great and the block of discord is also great. This is a really great choice when you're picking areas to stay!

When I visited Barcelona, I was staying here and I think it was a great choice. Close to metro and lots of cafes...

The Eixample district was built in the 1800's as the first ring beyond the old city center. It is filled with interesting architecture, wide boulevards, great hotels, restaurants and upscale shopping.

This is my favorite neighborhood, absolutely loaded with exquisite Modernista architecture, great bars and restaurants. Lots of street life. Good markets. It's all here!

Learning my way around this area was useful to finding my way through the winding streets of neighbouring areas.

The elegant Eixample district of Barcelona is an easy walk from Placa de Catalunya and the Old City. The district showcases my kind of well thought out urban planning with streets laid out in a open grid pattern with strict controls to allow maximum sun,...More

Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you
enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally
translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes
recognisable by its more spacious streets and elegant
atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district,
Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end
international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the
glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best

About 20 minutes by bus. I didn't walk as it was extremely hot while I was there but I would estimate it would be about a 45 minute walk, this area is not close to the beach.
