The Tablao de Carmen pays tribute to the great flamenco dancer, Carmen Amaya, born in 1913 in the gypsy quarter of Somorrostro which then existed in what is today Barcelona's Olympic Village. Carmen Amaya made her debut in 1929 before King Alfonso XII on the site which is today the Tablao de Carmen at the inauguration of Poble Espanyol de Montjuic. The Tablao offers a top quality pure flamenco show, a direct descendant of the tradition. It dynamically presents several of the most important palos or styles of flamenco so that the spectator can get to know the richness and variety of this art form. It also highlights its different forms of expression: instrumental, vocal and dance.

A very enthralling performance. The dynamics between the musicians and the dancers is wonderful to see, as they sing and cheer the dancers and vice versa. It is a short, but fiery performance with each of the dancers doing a solo and then getting together....More

There is not a bad seat in the house. We were on the balcony, where we had drinks and tapas. We enjoyed the music and passionate flamenco performances. It is not evident on the map, but this location is situated within Poble Espanol, which is...More

While it may seem cheesy, this was enjoyable and would serve as a good introduction to the art forms of flamenco music for someone seeing it for the first time. The tapas menu was very generous. You would not need more food than this.

This dinner show was easy to book on-line from the UK. The village setting is particularly attractive and the later show finishes in perfect time to wander down to see the last 45 minutes of the wonderful fountains. I would not really rate the food...More

While flamenco is not Catalan, it is important to Spain. The music and dancing were fantastic! The performers even did some improvisation and you could tell they were really in to it. We ordered the tapas menu and was plenty of food. Yes, this is...More
