The area
Address
Neighbourhood: La Rambla
Barcelona's most famous street was once a dry riverbed. Now, La Rambla is a 1200-metre boulevard, and a major draw for visitors. During the day, La Rambla fills with pedestrians, some of which stroll past impressive human statues and artists while others take a break to people-watch while enjoying a drink at one of the many terraces. Housed here is the iconic Boqueria Market that offers one of the most varied and appetising selections of local produce and specialty meats and treats. While it’s important for tourists to keep an eye on their belongings at all times, this area is most safely explored in the daytime and is a must see for everyone who visits.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Found this sweet shop when I asked artificial intelligence where the best tarta de quesa cheesecakes were in Barcelona. And expectations have been met! Historic site since 1820. Located right on Rue La Rambra, 10 minutes from Plaza Catalunya.
I recommend trying tarta de quesa, made of sheep cheese and taste a little salty. I really enjoyed it. Also tried the bun as a curl, also delicious, much worse elsewhere

On my recent birthday, we each bought a dessert here and took them back to our hotel room for an afternoon snack. The carrot cake was decorated with images that must have related to a local TV show - more importantly, it was absolutely the best carrot cake I've ever had. Not too heavy, but not dry, and with delicious cream cheese icing. My husband chose a light, multi-layered vanilla cake that he loved and even I found tasty, and I usually can't be bothered with vanilla desserts. Don't let the elaborate presentations of many of the items fool you - they don't just look really cool, they taste fabulous.

The service was excellent and the waffle with catalan cream delicious! Also it is in a very convenient location close to the open market and to the las ramblas, so it is a nice stop for resting.

I ate the chocolate cake with the apricot infusion (the pipette in it). Granted I did come at the end of the day, but my cake was sooo dry. I would suggest not slicing the cakes until people actually order because all of the layers had separated, and I needed a big glass of water (not to mention the dessert was like 6 euros!). It is really fancy presentation, but the actual dessert is nothing special. Also the service was not efficient and the communication was poor between the people who worked there. I had to order two separate times before I got the cake. I did enjoy the apricot, and the quality of ingredients (chocolate) was high. Also just because you stick a pipette of juice into a piece of cake, does not make it worth more than 5 euros.

Lovely cake but atmosphere left a lot to be desired - three staff visible all of whom attended us, one to take our order and serve it, the other staff cleared the table and gave us our bill. Most unfriendly all three, has put us off returning. Cold drink requested was unavailable, given a second option which was also unavailable (both listed on the menu) and this was communicated in a brusque manner.

Came upon this place purely by accident. Fabulous cakes/pastries and great coffees. Who would of thought espresso with condensed milk at the bottom could be so wonderful. Arrived mid afternoon and my first choice of cake was sold out but wasn’t disappointed by my second choice. A small building inside but it had atmosphere and you could feel the history of the place.

Great old place that serves fantastic gourmet sweets along with great coffee! The shop is beautiful and located in an old corner building surrounded with awesome stained glass. So nice to get out of the busy touristy Las Ramblas to relax and enjoy a coffee.

Lovely little gem along the Las Ramblas, they have lovely pastries and great coffee. They also do a lovely hot chocolate (great energy boost if you've been drinking the night before). It's also a little hidden away from the buzz of the Las Ramblas, so if you need a little time out from the crowds, this is definitely the place to go. It's quite cosy inside, so not great for big groups, but if you're riding solo or as a duo you'll probably enjoy it more.
