Parc Guell

Parc Guell, Barcelona: Address, Phone Number, Parc Guell Reviews: 4/5

About
Park Guell is one of the masterpieces of the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi, who projected it in 1900. Inaugurated as a public park in 1926, it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984, reconizing its patrimonial and cultural value as a symbol of modern architecture, being one of the biggest exponents of Gaudi's modernism. This playful urban park, the work of architect Antoni Gaudi, features peaceful greens, winding paths and many sculptures and mosaics designed by Gaudi himself. We recommend the following options for ensuring that you arrive on time at the Park Guell Monument Precinct: - Metro (green line, get off at Lesseps or Vallcarca). When you leave the station, you’ll have a walk of about 20-25 minutes. - City bus (lines H6 and 32). When you get off the bus, you’ll have a walk of about 15 minutes. - City bus (lines 92 and 24). When you get off the bus, you’ll have a walk of about 5 minutes. - Barcelona City Tour and Bus Turistic. When you get off the bus, you’ll have a walk of about 10 minutes. - Taxi to Park Guell

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Gracia
Gracia literally stands out from the pack. It used to be an independent town until late into the 19th century. Though it’s just a short commute away from the centre, a visit here feels like you’re in a whole different city. The bohemian vibe has drawn many international artists to this area, resulting in a wide selection of galleries, live music and artsy boutique stores. The nightlife is centered around the vibrant Gracia’s plaças, where young and old gather to enjoy a drink outside. Carrer de Verdi, its main street, offers affordable restaurants and a movie theatre that screens new as well as classic films in their original language. However Gracia's greatest treasure lies just up the hill at Guell Park, where Antoni Gaudi's vibrant and revolutionary art sculptures stand atop unequaled views of Barcelona.

Beautiful park!

I had no idea about the history of this park. It was originally built as an Ultra wealthy community. The views of Barcelona are one of a kind. I recommend a guided tour.

Morning at park buell
Nov 2021
We went to the park early in the morning to the sunrise. There is no cost and one is free to walk around the park, there is more to see there but one needs tickets in advance and we did not have them. We were told that the wait to purchase tickets can be quite long.

Underwhelmed, restricted areas means long queues!
Nov 2021
Easy to find. Beautiful gardens, Stunning architecture. Restricted areas around the columns and stairway meant we couldn't see these which was disappointing. There was a queue with around 100 people in and as I use a stick, there was no way I was going to be able to wait and queue. This meant our experience was limited.

One of the highly visited places in Barcelona, while the place was in construction/ renovation when I visited, it was not that great to look at those times

Stunning
Oct 2021 • Solo
Parc Guell is stunning and no doubt on all tourists lists when visiting Barcelona.

Highly recommend making the visit. The App (QR when you arrive) will walk you through all areas and insights. You can buy tickets in advance or at the gate. But if you buy your tickets online, be sure to arrive during your alloted time.

If you are walking to Parc Guell, note that it becomes inclined and uphill to get too. Not a problem for anyone without mobility considerations.

It can be very busy so try for off peak times, but irrespective, worth the visit.

Lovely Gaudi architecture. Great to just walk around and admire all the art work. Head to the Parc just before sunset to get a lovely view over Barcelona
