Address
Neighbourhood: La Rambla
Barcelona's most famous street was once a dry riverbed. Now, La Rambla is a 1200-metre boulevard, and a major draw for visitors. During the day, La Rambla fills with pedestrians, some of which stroll past impressive human statues and artists while others take a break to people-watch while enjoying a drink at one of the many terraces. Housed here is the iconic Boqueria Market that offers one of the most varied and appetising selections of local produce and specialty meats and treats. While it’s important for tourists to keep an eye on their belongings at all times, this area is most safely explored in the daytime and is a must see for everyone who visits.

    Colorful and Busy
This place looks more like a food court than a market. Perhaps it is a food court and the name is deceiving. This place is crowded and colorful, and make sure you watch your belongings here. There are plenty of food choices and the prices are budget friendly.

This is mainly a food market with almost everything one can imagine and most of it beautifully displayed.
On every must-see list and it’s a must see. This is mainly a food market with almost everything one can imagine and most of it beautifully displayed. Planned our day to eat lunch here and it was great. Bar Central fish counter for garlic shrimp – excellent, scallops – excellent, plate of peppers – excellent, not spicy, fried artichoke – excellent, white fish filet – excellent, cold beer, Spanish wine. Yum! The counter surrounds the kitchen on four sides and is busy. There is a pleasant but busy maitre’d who shepherds the seating around the bar. We walked up, asked for seating for four and he immediately politely asked a person to move over one stool and we waited 3 minutes as three people were paying and voila, we sat down. Don’t be put off with how busy it looks. Definite go-back.

Must see, best food market in the world
Must see, as it is free and has so much interesting food to experience and see. The market is bustling and truly superior to any food market we have ever seen in North America. We spent one morning walking and picking up snacks along the way.

It's more than just a market!
This is more than just a market - it is 2583 sq.m of all sorts of delicious goodies, the sight and smell of which makes your head spin. It feels like you can buy everything here. There is a feeling that mostly tourists wander between the counters with their eyes and mouths open with delight, and locals come to the Bokeria market to eat and drink. 😊

The most famous market in Barcelona!
The most famous market in barcelona. Right off “ la Rambla” beautiful and colorful displays. Perfect for food shopping but also for a little snack or a full lunch. Fruit, veggies, deserts, olives, meat, fish, empanadas anything … and much more! Very Instagramable!

Cool to see, avoid the mediocre food.
Had a wonderful time walking around checking out all the wonderful sights and purchased several prepared foods that were mediocre at best. Most of the prepared foods seemed to have been prepared a day or 2 in advance. Stay away from the burritos, wraps, empanadas or fried foods. If you don't mind overspending then try some of the fruit salads, cured meats and cheeses and have a glass of wine. Would only recommend for sightseeing.

    Full of life
This was a busy, vibrant undercover market. There are lots of great small items available to buy and consume as you walk and also a few spots where you can sit and enjoy the offerings at the counter. Well worth a look.

    We Went Twice!
This is a very touristy open-air market. Very busy, we went both times in the evening. Some items are very pricey, others reasonable. I managed to pick up some cooking salts for souvenirs. I caved & brought some chocolate strawberries on a stick & fresh juice which was lush! A very impressive display of stalls & I loved the vibrant atmosphere!

    BEST MARKETPLACE IN BARCELONA
THE greatest place to have breakfast AND lunch!...hundreds of vendors and booths to see and taste....everything so fresh. I had baby squid and eggs at LQUIM and lunch later in the day with some of the freshest seafood we ever ate. Had to walk up and down La Rambla 3X to walk it all off. A MUST MARKET to visit.

The Boqueria was easily within walking distance of our hotel, and we enjoyed just walking though the market. We did pick up some items for dinner and as expected there were a lot of tourists. It was larger than the Mercado San Miguel in Madrid fairly significantly which also made it much more enjoyable. In Madrid even in November was wall to wall people. Even during prime time, we were able to navigate here without difficulty and enjoyed all that we saw. Would definitely return in the future the next time we are in Barcelona. Enjoy.

Recently browsed through this market and was very impressed either variety of food available. It is packed with vendors selling candy to vegetables to a vast assortment of fresh fish and cured meats. Many of the vendors have small tapas selections to eat on the go or sit at their counter and have a beer and fresh shucked oysters. Prices are on the higher side but this place is packed with locals and tourists. I could’ve wandered through here for hours!!!

This is a fresh food market with many stalls and many different types of food, including seafood, tapas, fresh fruit and meats. I had some fried seafood which was pretty good. It's also nice to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere. Worth stopping by when walking down Rambla street.

Great colourful place to visit. The food is amazing and even better if you’re in self catering accommodation. There are some great fish and seafood and meat to buy. The takeaway food is lovely and something for all tastes.

Of course it’s packed (it’s good) and full of tourists (what isn’t in Barcelona)?
We three visited on a Thursday mid-afternoon. It was packed, but with a happy and buzzing vibe. Wide range of Spanish foodstuffs, from raw meat and fish (clearly not just tourist footfall) through cured and cooked foods to turron and smoothies. Mostly take-away, which we happily indulged in, while strolling around the market. Despite crowds, service was remarkably prompt.
Prices were very reasonable, especially considering it’s location. A must-try when inBarcelona!

We were staying near the Ramblas so decided to check out the market. You will find it tucked away between 2 buildings near 91 Ramblas which is the CaixaBank and Exchange, it's on the left-hand side going away from the sea. Warning its closed on a Sunday and Monday to Saturday 9am till 3pm.
If you have been to any market in a large Spanish town you will understand me saying it’s a typical Spanish Market. If it is your first time visiting its worth it. There is plenty of fresh stalls selling everything from Rabbit to fish. The big draw card is the delis selling every type of regional cold cuts like the equivalent of parma ham. And of course chorizo and every type of dried sausage that looks like it. Every type of olive and plenty of fruit stalls.there are lots of stalls selling regional type pastries cakes etc. A must to buy is a small can of Spanish paprika 2 types the slightly smoked and the sweet, it will change your cooking! Then saffron that special ingredient of Paella. All are available from the various herb and spice stalls in the market. There are a few small eateries around the sides of the market for a quick bite or a coffee. Just a note that the prices are not market prices we found some of the larger supermarkets in the area cheaper for food, I think the market is very touristy so they bump up the prices a bit.
Worth a visit yes if you have never been to a Spanish market before and if you have maybe just a quick gander through.

Amazing market with choices of all types of foods available for purchase surrounded by very good eateries. Can be crowded at times but seeing is believing.
A good place if your self- catering as the choices are countless
Well worth a visit if only to look

I found everything very expensive and it didn't have the genuine feel to it. Just to "touristy" for my taste.

Fantastic place to find lunch! Probably one of the best food markets we've been to. Food is beautifully displayed with such a variety to choose from - meat, fruit, sweets, nuts, oils, snacks, etc. Only comment I'd make is there's nowhere to sit and eat what you've bought.
