Lots to see in and around this square, stop for a coffee or tapas to absorb the atmosphere. Spectacular lighting at night

Well deserved UNESCO World Heritage recognition. Was here on a day trip from Madrid, but could have stayed for at least 3 days. The churches, the university, the Plaza Mayor, a privilege to be able to visit this beautiful town.

We went on a cold January evening and it was lively, buzzing with people. The square itself is pretty with impressive architecture and is surrounded by reasonably priced cafes and restaurants.

The square in Salamanca is built in the Churrigueresque Baroque style. It features iron balconies, sidewalk cafes and the stunning facade of the city hall. Quite an impressive architecture art piece.
