A visit to this very ancient (800 yrs old!) and venerable institution is well worth the time. The older parts of the building visited by the tourist contain a range of old lecture rooms and other rooms and provide a fascinating insight to a continuation...More

Loads of history and artefacts highlighting the Islamic/Christian struggles. Look out for the university education rooms throughout Salamanca in some beautiful buildings

Wow...bit pricy to visit....but very neat to see various classrooms, books, tools and the old library! I’d love to study here one day even though I’m retired and already have all my university studies completed.

We were in the city to see the school where our grand daughter had attended the university. It surprised me that they charged admission to go through the main building which was more of a museum for the school. Preferred just walking around looking at...More

I could spot the frog on the skull with a bit of help. Thought it had disappeared in the stomach of one the dragons. Great city, great university, great tradition, a couple of black pages included. An ode to the freedom of teaching and learning.

The university is world renown. The facade is lovely. Be sure to look for the frog on top of the skull - the sign for Salamanca.

The University of Salamanca existed for around 800 years and most impressive of all is the facade of the Library Building. It is learnt that there is a frog sculpture among other figures on this facade and for those students who can identify the frog...More

The fact that this university has existed for almost 800 years is inspiring. The tour allows you to see into the ancient library which is from those times and many other rooms from the 15th and 16th centuries. The university shop is well worth calling...More
