This is probably worth including Leon in your trip! The Cathedral and the Pantheon (walking distance) are the real 5stars in this city. Amazingly, you can almost miss the Pantheon if you are really not aware of this splendid place. The middle age ceiling afrescos are outstanding.

This is a tiny place and its glories are the roof paintings. You need a guide perhaps to get the most out of it. Very well worth a visit because they are treasures

Four times a day you can have a guided tour of the Royal Pantheon. It is recommended to visitors because you hear (and see) many things that you would not on your own. 5€ for a 40 minute visit is good value, with tickets available in the gift shop by the church, with its magnificent art behind the altar. The... More

Attending a service here, very charming and worth taking the time to visit. The whole historic area of the town is worthwhile

The original paintings on the ceiling of the area where kings are buried is spectacular. Other parts of museum are interesting--would have been more so if we could have gone into the library.

While not as vast or intricate as it's neighboring Cathedral...still a very impressive building to visit and pray in!

Much more intimate than the Cathedral but more interesting. This place was built and added to several times and nobody ever said "That style is great lets do that again." The frescoes are gorgeous and the historical detail exquisite. The scale is more like your parish church and reminds us that the great leaders of Leon had both a public... More

The basilica is well worth visiting. However the highlight was the Romanesque Royal Pantheon within the museum. The frescoes were are really beautiful. The museum contained several other very interesting items.

Leóns second church is mainly romanesque, with some very finely detailed porticos and columns, though it all gives a austere and beautiful impression. The late-Gotich choir is an effectful contrast to it all. The admission is free, and should be an integral part of a walk around beautiful León.
