There really is only one room in this small museum that you need to see, but what an extraordinary room it is, lined down one wall with a complete set of El Greco's paintings of Jesus and the disciples. Each one is a masterpiece in...More

I loved seeing Greco artwork in the Prado but seeing it here was a better experience. Understanding the man and artist. He was interested in being true to his art than acquiesing to the king.

We spent about an hour here as a family. Really good value at 3€ each for adults and free for children. The background on El Greco and his links to Toledo were well explained and the setting is wonderful. Even if the art isn't to...More

The museum was an after thought as we thought a small city could not have a good museum. We were wrong. This small museum charged 3 euros a person. Well worth it. Original works by Greco, history and an education. spent almost an hour and...More

A small but informative museum. Limited pictures by El Greco but there's a lot about his life. And a decent video about his technique. Even if you're not a fan you'll enjoy it.

Toledo is just half an hour away by train from Madrid. We didn’t realise how quickly the day ended with so much to do in this small town which once upon a time was a congruence of Jews, Muslims and Christians. One can do the...More

Toledo has so many great attractions and this house museum w/gardens is a must on the list. While there are many works there is a wonderful history on El Greco and how the museum came to be. The gardens and views are lovely.

This building was originally the home of a prominent member of the Jewish community pre-1492 and became El Greco's home and studio. I was disappointed that few of his works actually hang inside. Even if you love art and El Greco as I do, you...More

It was a magically beautiful setting: the flower-rich gardens and old building with architectural wonders, including why was like a cave. Well laid out, easy going guards and lovely art. I just expected that based on the museum’s name, there would have been more El...More

This museum starts out real slow, and by the reviews it’s apparent some people give up and leave without seeing the collection of El Greco originals near the end. At the beginning you tour some caverns that are still being excavated that have no reason...More
