Once you get past the beggars that stake out both entrances you enter into a large church with very high ceilings and some interesting artwork including a painted wood ceiling. The downside is that the interior is just too dark to really apprieciate the art and the most of it appears to need restoration.

It looks quite plain from the outside, but don't let that put you off. Inside it's a gem, full of wonderful art, decorated altar pieces and paintings. It's mostly 17th / 18th century baroque stuff, but as grand as any I've seen. It's serene and peaceful inside. I'm not religious, but I love this stuff. Highly recommended.

Tucked away behind a square in the centre of Santa Cruz. This lovely church is worth visiting and for attending a mass. It is situated within an area of many grand Spanish colonial buildings.

Some churches are just not good to visit. Alas, this is one of those - you have to peer round in semi-darkness to see anything and there is no sense of welcome or of a spiritual benediction. I was glad to get back to the sunshine

Both outside where a shade giving small park in the front is already peaceful, and the inside with old baroque style furniture and vault ceiling is very beautiful. You can be imaging people sitting here praying and looking for silence and a peaceful moment. The cameras are forbidden inside, so no pictures. This is one place to put on the... More

Very beautiful colonial canarian church with a baroque façade on a nice old city place. A must see in the center.

This is a lovely place of prayer. We did not attend Mass here, but it is daily at 7.00p.m. The Plaza de San Francisco is a lovely oasis of peace.

A lovely church in a beautiful city, the square outside is part of the attraction. Huge laurel trees and opposite, colourful old houses now mostly lively restaurants. This was one of the first places I walked past on the way to my pension, and I just stopped and gasped with pleasure.
