The museum is free which is a bonus. There is no English translation but you can get the gist of things. Interesting display of militaria. Worth a look.

This place was recommended to me and I would recommend it to you. It's got much of what you'd expect a military museum to have - exhibitions of weapons etc. - but it's more than that. Some of it is inside an old fortress and it gives a good impression of its size and how difficult it must have been... More

One of highlights. A cool place to visit on a hot day. A thought provoking place with excellent exhibits. Be brave and keep walking down the dark cave like passages, the old gun emplacements, there is someone waiting for you down there!

Nik my middle son and I visited the above museum for a great day out. The were some great artefacts and displays ranging from early times to the very modern. To a British person to learn of Nelsons defeat at Santa Cruz was of a real interest and there is a good display of the battle and captured flags and... More

A short visit to the Museum in Santa Cruz. Enjoyable and interesting. it wouldn't be for everybody but if you enjoy Military history and the history of Lord Nelson's failed attack on Santa Cruz, it's a great place to go. I really enjoyed it and most of the information is in English as well as Spanish. Items from various centuries... More

We visited on a very rainy day so didn't get the best from the visit as we didn't wander around the outside areas. We did see the indoor exhibits...lots of guns, armour, model ships etc. There was a very interesting exhibit on Nelson and how he lost his arm at his only defeat at Santa Cruz. A bit more info... This is a great museum of Spanish naval history. It's located in an old naval fortification and is filled with interesting naval military memorabilia. Old canons, weapons, armor, medals, colors, model ships, maps, etc. Well presented and well maintained facility. Worth the visit.

This is worth a visit - there is a lot about the Nelson defeat of 1787! Lot of detailed military stuff but as ever you can choose what interests you and as it's free you don't feel the need to spend ages there if you don't want to.
