Overall, a good day.
Oct 2021
My family and I visited the park mid-holiday, we were staying at the GH Roca Nivaria, and I was very much looking forward to it as our previous visit (without partners) was fantastic. My partner hadn't been for a long time, and my brother's partner had never been before, so it seemed like an excellent opportunity. It was only an hour's drive too, meaning we could take in all the beautiful scenery throughout our journey. Unfortunately, while our overall experience was a good one, there were a number of problems during our visit that need to be addressed.

Good points:

- The orca show was great, we loved hearing Morgan's story and learning more about the wonderful things Loro Parque does for animals. The whales looked well looked after and healthy.
- The dolphin show was also great. It was nice to see the carers getting into the water with them. They all looked happy and healthy, too.
- My favourite part of the day, the forest walk among several different birds, was absolutely amazing. My favourite bird was a very pretty pink/red one!
- The penguin and jellyfish enclosures are always fantastic to see and allow for so many good photo opportunities. All looked healthy and comfortable, too.
- There were plenty of refreshments and lots of park merchandise to browse as we walked around.
- 90% of the staff were friendly and welcoming.

Bad points:
- First and foremost, the use of face masks. I would recommend telling your guests why it is mandatory to wear them, e.g. because the park would have to close otherwise, as this might encourage guests to wear them more willingly. The security guards in the orca, dolphin and parrot shows were mostly unpleasant and unfriendly. We're British so naturally we don't deal with heat very well, but we couldn't even have a drink without being told off for moving our masks. Strangely, the people in the orca show, and the two women that flew birds for the dolphin show, didn't wear masks and no social distancing between them was observed. This is hypocritical, especially when we are told we must walk around with them on, even while outside. The worst mask-related issue, however, was that my mother was embarrassed by a staff member who informed everyone at one of the big cat enclosures that she wasn't wearing hers properly. She simply hadn't realised that it had slipped under her nose. During the orca show, a man was also caught on camera eating (before it had started) and was shamed for not wearing his mask. Thankfully, he laughed and shrugged it off, but I know I wouldn't have been quite as forgiving in front of so many people. Lastly, during the parrot show, my partner and I were sitting over to one side and couldn't see much of the stage. We expected that, as usual, we could watch what was happening on the two screens on either side, however we found that they only showed mask-related rules and guidance, so we missed most of what was happening.
- Other than mask-related issues, the parrot show was far shorter than we recall (more like 15 minutes compared to the previous 30 minutes) and most of it wasn't translated so we were unable to understand much of what was being said. We weren't able to see the birds perform any enrichment activities other than a brief flight around the room either.
- When we learned that the park was closing in 15 minutes, we headed back to the central shops in order to purchase some items for family. We were very abruptly stopped, however, and we were told that they had already closed. We didn't get an apology, they simply turned us around and told us to leave. I recommend that the park changes its opening hours to fit this time, because stating that it closes at a certain time, only to close 15 minutes beforehand, is unfair to the guests.
- Lastly, it was a shame to see that so many of the small eating areas had been closed. I understand that social distancing needed to be observed, but this falls a little flat when we're packed into the shows and are forced to sit next to each other.

Overall, the good parts of our visit will always outshine the bad, but I do believe that masks will inevitably harm the park's popularity if the above isn't addressed. We will, of course, always return for another visit though!

Brilliant afternoon visit
Oct 2021 • Couples
Visited here whilst on holiday and glad we did. Surroundings are like being in wooded area and the sounds of the birds are all around. Big cats, monkeys, birds of all varieties, penguins are a must see in a brilliant polar landscape complete with falling snow! Tunnel with sharks and fish all around amazing jellyfish tanks, they even have a jellyfish breeding program. Highlight was the dolphins, really good show put on, didn’t see sea lions as there was work going on in the pool area . Would recommend a visit here 100% .

Wouldn’t visit again!

Very average trip in my opinion.
We travelled an hour and a half from playa las americas to get here.
When arrived, there was a queue to get in and it was 11:30am by this point.
The park felt cramped and too many people.
I very quickly realised how cruel it was for the orcas and dolphins who were cramped into a tiny enclosure. I felt awful seeing how sad the gorillas looked in his enclosure and realised this is how all the animals must feel. I actually felt guilty even entertaining this and giving my money to this park.
Barely any food and drink places. Queue was an hour long for the only restaurant.
I wouldn’t visit again based on this experience and to be honest; I would feel very guilty being part of it. Animals should be in their natural habitat in the wild and this experience has made me realise that so much more. Even the birds were in tiny little cages and seemed desperate to escape.

Marvelous experience! Worth every second of it!

All the experience in Loro Parque was marvelous!
I was a bit hesitant about going to Loro Parque since I'm very familiar with the Lisbon Zoo and the Oceanário here in Portugal. However it was a 100% worth it!
Firstly, we got there by catching the Loro Parque bus which was a very fun experience. Once we got there I could feel every thought put into creating that place. Everything was beautiful. The sea lions, loro, dolphins and orca shows were the highlight of this visit. The staff and the animals seem very sweet and happy to be there. The show itself is very educational which I highly appreciate. The other animal species throughout the park really tight everything together. There isn't much diversity, however the focus is the regional animals and also about being a safe place for every soul in there. I was also very amazed by the jellyfish aquarium. They are such beautiful creatures. Before we went home we had to get a couple of souvenirs, including the picture they took of us in the beginning.
Highly recommend the visit. In comparison to the previously mentioned Lisbon Zoo and Oceanário, it's a nice complement to it.

Boyfriend wanted to go here and I didn’t really know what it was so I agreed. Regret giving this place my money, it’s so upsetting seeing these beautiful animals such as orcas in captivity and forced to perform for our entertainment.
Do yourself and the animals a favour and watch “blackfish” documentary on Netflix, and don’t book this place.
You can book boat trips in Tenerife to see dolphins and whales in their natural habitat, do that instead!

Nice park, but to crowded to enjoy it.
Aug 2021 • Family
The park is nice, but it is way to crowded to enjoy the experience. It is a victim of it own success. I have been to park like this in other parts of the world but in non of them I had the feeling I am suffocated by the crowded.Too bad!
