The scenery in the mountains was truly amazing, but the drive to get to Masca was challenging, with very winding and narrow roads.
We didn't enjoy the journey but the destination was incredible.

Masca is definitely beautiful, the views are absolutely gorgeous, but that is kind of all. We have stayed here for 4 nights and it could have easily been 1-2 or even an afternoon visit only.

The road to the village is difficult, but, there is a bus passing by multiple times a day, one ride to/from Saintiago del Teide is 1.45 Eur.

There are not that many hiking trails right in the village - either you take the 7 hour hike down to Los Gigantes and back, or you have very little options nearby. Getting to any trail, you have to walk on the winding road, avoiding cars and busses, and it becomes uncomfortable rather quickly.

Local restaurants are really bad, tourist traps really not worth repeating a visit. Nowhere to get any sort of groceries, so you better stack on them before visiting.

All in all, I would definitelly recommend visiting Masca for the view for one afternoon visit, but I would not stay here again overnight.

We made our own way to Masca by taking a taxi. That was fine although we suspect he added a bit at the end! The drivers don't seem to like going there which was understandable as it's a really, really tricky drive with narrow roads and hairpin bends. We tried to book him to come back but he pointed out the rank and said we should just get one from there. Good luck with that. We waited for an hour an a half an nothing. We ended up getting the bus which was much too small to take everyone waiting so not sure how others managed to get back.
Anyway, Masca itself is lovely. A small village with not a great deal to do so it's mainly the scenery you go for. That is really nice. The main trail was closed when we were there which it seems to be quite a bit (think it's a preservation thing). Despite that, it's still very much worth a visit if you're in Tenerife.

Let me start with the difficulties to find a parking spot, plenty of tourists making it hard to find a spot to eat or drink (most of which close around 4pm). We were unlucky to arrive when it was raining and unfortunately due to poor shoes choice, we were slipping all the way down the stones - please bring proper shoes! The way to the place itself may be difficult for beginner drivers or drivers from flat countries - it is truly a rocky road to the top of the mountain and around it so it’s best for an experienced driver.
The valley itself guarantees great views of mountains, green and ocean altogether. I would recommend it as a half day trip (morning times preferred), there is definitely plenty of kilometers to walk!

Beautiful! The road to get here was narrow, and the driver should be well prepared for the journey, but the views are amazing

Impressive scenery.
Difficult road in to Masca.
Not much to see when you get there.
Very crowded.
The restaurants and cafes provided good service.
The gorge walk seems to be over popular and is clearly quite dangerous from the need to wear helmets so we gave it a miss.

It’s a gorgeous green valley with a picturesque village, which is absolutely plagued by visitors. If you’re coming by car, the roads are not easy for an unexperienced driver and the parking can be impossible to find.

I hope there will be a way in the future to reduce the number od visitors per day.

The gorge was closed that day so we couldn’t hike down to the ocean.

Hidden gem in the middle of mountains. Visited in December 2022 with my two children and we absolutely loved it.

We took a bus 355 to get there and back as I thought road may be closed for cars as it is to get to some places in mountains here in Tenerife. Taking bus was easy and reasonably priced and they run as what it says online. No road closure on the way but allowed me to enjoy their lovely beer with nice fish dish and an amazing views.

We tried cactus fruit (which I didn’t know it exists 😄 or at least didn’t have a clue that part of cactus is edible) and delicious papaya we purchased from local man selling fresh fruit.

At our visit place wasn’t crowded which I very appreciated and everyone was very friendly.

I would definitely say this is one of the must see destinations when in Tenerife.

Absolutely gorgeous place. If not one but😁 It is very difficult to drive there and find any spot to park. The first time we tried it didn't work out at all. So at the end of our vacation we decide to give it a try again. We parked in the street 1 km away which was very good regarding how narrow the roads are and how many cars try to get there. Unfortunately we didn't have much time to go all the way down and to see more of it. But I would definitely try it again. Next time we are prepared.
