Plenty of walks available. We called at the info office by the Parador (hotel) and took the 1.5 hour walk. As 72-year-olds, it took us 1.75 hrs, but was do-able. Like a lunar landscape.

What an incredible place! The drive up takes you through ever changing landscapes, natural history at it's very best! The vulcano tells it's story through the different colours of the magma flows and the craters from which the lava erupted through time. The natural features are breathtaking, they make you feel you are on the Moon or Mars! Nobody should... More

Wonderful lunar landscape used in the filming of Planet of the Apes. Worth a trip and ride up to the crater in a cable car. Not for the fainthearted or anyone with breathing problems!

Hang the expense! This was worth every cent for the sheer jaw-dropping experience. The journey up takes you through the different micro-climates, starting with the upper regions of Porto de la Cruz through pine forests to barren almost desert-like terrain. There are a couple of stops along the way - each one is different from the last. The pine forests... More

We recently booked a holiday with Thomsons, Tui, and this was one of the attractions. It was not cheap but it was worth every penny. It started with an interesting ride to the volcano where we stopped to watch the sunset, absolutely beautiful, then we went on to eat an excellent meal at a beautiful restaurant. The icing on the... Get your permit in advance ( 2 maths I'm told ) or go with a private guide which is what we did . A 5 hr trip which was truly sensational. The terrain was incredible. At the top you could see and smell the sulphur . 11000 ft up and the views were superb . A defo must visit .

This was a scenic drive approaching El Teide from the East, passing the observatories and then around the base of the caldera and exiting via the North West road. I heard around three million people visit this place each year, but the place was practically deserted leaving us to enjoy the beautiful views almost all to ourselves. January must be... More

A fascinating trip from sea level in Puerto de la Cruz to well over two thousand metres above sea level below the last 1 300 metres of this mighty cone-shaped volcano. On the scenic drive up and down Canarian fir trees with very long needles were interesting to see for Norwegians.
